2005 Additions

Radio 2 Janice Long - Glenn appears on BBC Radio 2 in support of Stephen Large's upcoming album, where he goes by the name Lord Large. Several other musicians are there, and a rockin' time is had by all! Highly recommended. Direct download (4.6 MB) Aired November 14, 2005

Music 6 with Phill Jupitus - Glenn is interviewed along with Stephen Large (Fluffers keyboardist) about Stephen's upcoming album. Very lively and fun! Glenn sings a new song from Stephen's album, 'Don't Stick Around Too Long'. There are also screen grabs from the studio cam! Aired November 4, 2005.

KGSR Austin - Starts out with standard questions and answers, but then delves deeper and becomes much more interesting! Missing the very beginning of the show. Direct download (2.5 MB) Aired May 6, 2005

KFOG San Francisco - Short but sweet interview discussing RV touring, the Fluffers, and country music! Aired November 1, 2004

eTown - Great show that is mostly concert, with a little bit of interview. Glenn performs several songs from his new album with the excellent house band. Great! Aired October 5, 2004

Weekend Edition (NPR) - Interview snippets, songs, and excerpts from the Glenn documentary One For The Road, all professionally mixed. Totally different approach from the usual 'interview on the fly', and works very well! Aired July 18, 2004.

2004 Additions

Japanese radio interview - An awesome interview sent in from Japan. The lyrics to "Untouchable" are finally explained, which will probably be a revelation to just about everyone. Glenn also discusses the new book, Squeeze: Song by Song, and how working on it helped him see his relationship with Chris Difford in a different light. Direct download (5.4 MB).

World Cafe - A nice, mellow NPR interview peppered with live songs with Glenn and The Fluffers. It has a few skips in it, which add "interesting" rhythm changes to the songs, but still worth hearing! Direct download (3.6 MB). Aired July 9, 2004

WICN with Nick DiBiasio - Excellent interview; Nick asks a lot of interesting questions and really knows his stuff. Direct download (1.6 MB) Aired June 2004

Jimmy Kimmel Show (video) - Glenn is musical guest on this popular U.S. late night talk show, and performs "Untouchable" and "Tempted". For more info, see the download page. Vidcaps too! Aired June 8, 2004

Later with Jools Holland (video) - Glenn appeared on Jools' TV show, and performed "Untouchable" with Stephen Large on keyboards. What can I say? Lovely! There are also vidcaps. Aired May 21, 2004

Liz Kershaw's Radio 2 Show - Another great one! Liz and Glenn seem to have a great rapport, making for a lively and fun interview. They discuss songs from the new album, among other things. Aired May 16, 2004

Jools Holland's Radio Show - Not to be missed. A very fun and somewhat quirky interview that kicks off with Christopher Holland singing an unknown song written by Glenn (sounding a lot like him!), and ends up with Glenn, Jools, and Gilson Lavis reminiscing and comparing early Squeeze memories. I left all the songs in, because this interview is an Experience, and I didn't want to interrupt it. It runs about 40 minutes, and is a direct download (6.1 MB). Aired May 10th 2004

Glenn and The Fluffers on Jonathan Ross Show - BBC Radio 2 interview and music with the whole band. Fantastic! The band blow their host away with "Reinventing the Wheel". Aired May 1st, 2004

NEW! Jammin with Rowland Rivron - This is not an interview, it's a kind of musical variety show with several different guest artists. My first thought was "sounds boring", but it's HILARIOUS. I could not recommend this show more highly! Since it's mostly music, it's available in high quality (13.8 MB) and lower quality (4.5 MB) sound. (If you click on the title you get low.) Aired in late April, 2004

Squeeze: Bands Reunited (video) - Can Squeeze be convinced to re-form for a one time show in London? Aired in January 2004 in the U.S. and later on in the U.K.

Glenn on O'Laughlin "Without You Here" (video) - One of my very favorite video clips. Glenn on an Australian talk show, very funny and lively, followed by a beautiful full-band performance of "Without You Here". There are also some nice vidcaps. Aired while Glenn was touring solo in OZ for Domino. (1999)

2003 Additions

WICN Party Interview - Glenn put in a surprise appearance during Nick DiBiasio's Glenn/Squeeze Hour (which accompanied the Glenn List's first online global party). He declared "I'm partying along with you, here in Chattanooga!" Glenn and Nick chat for about a half hour. Direct download (1 MB). Aired November 23, 2002.

Glenn & Chris X-mas song (mp3) - A few years back Glenn and Chris Difford sang "I Wish It could be Christmas Every Day" during a radio interview. They did it from memory, so the lyrics are what you might call "modified". A brilliant, festive clip! Direct download ( 1.6 MB).

2002 Additions

Studio 22 Video - Two songs taken from Glenn's 1999 Australian TV appearance on Studio 22: 'Some Fantastic place' (preceded by brief-but-heartwrenching interview clip) and a very feisty 'Hourglass'. Both are really excellent performances. There are also vidcaps, either the full six pages, or the two-page "best of" collection. Summer 1999

WXRV The River - Glenn is interviewed in Boston during his summer tour in the U.S. This is a 25 minute interview and it's all talking (no songs), so more in-depth than most. Host Bob Stewart is obviously impressed with the new album. (25 mins) August 14, 2001

WICN Worcester - Phone interview conducted with Glenn on the road by our very own Nick DiBiasio from the Squeezefan mailing list. He asks probing questions about the field staff and which side of the bed Glenn sleeps on. Glenn manages to avoid running off the road by pulling over. (12 mins) August 11, 2001

Labelled With Love - The Squeeze Story - Janice Long hosts this fascinating Radio 2 special focusing on Squeeze's career. The story is told largely through interview clips from band members and people who have worked with them. (60 mins) August 4, 2001

London Today - A TV spot, but available in audio only. Glenn talks about how hip Deptford has become and sings part of 'This Is Where You Ain't'. May 24, 2001

Glenn sings from car roof - watch Glenn sing 'Suspicious Minds' while seated on the roof of his car! This is taken from camcorder footage shot at a Colchester gig by fan Paul Hodges. Low picture and sound quality are more than made up for by Glenn's contagious enthusiasm!

Never Mind the Buzzcocks Video - Glenn competes on the British music-themed game show. Lots of fun! There are really nice vidcaps for those who can't watch video. March 26, 2001

A Question of Sport Video - Glenn and Neil 'Razor' Ruddock sing 'Up The Junction' for Red Nose Day! The camera is careening around trying to show selective parts of Neil's face while the contestants guess who he is, so in this case the video is a lot better than the vidcaps. March 21, 2001

The Tracks of My Years - Glenn selects ten favorite non-Squeeze songs, tells us why he loves them, then plays the records for us! (He doesn't sing in this one.) Five segments, revealing some of Glenn's musical influences. Listen in RealMedia or read the transcription. January 8-12, 2001.

2000

Glenn did lots of TV and radio appearances during his first tour as a solo musician (fall 2000 U.K. and Ireland). Most of them are interviews with some acoustic songs.

Open House - Glenn is interviewed on TV by Gloria Hunniford. You can watch it in video (including a live performance of "Parallel World"), listen to the interview (but not the song) in audio, or read the transcription and look at video stills. December 6th, 2000

BBC Wales with Alan Thompson - in which Glenn mentions my hero, Joe Pass, and sings 'Woman's World' for us. November 11, 2000.

London Today - November 9, 2000. TV appearance, but available in audio only. 440k direct download.

London Live Radio - in which Glenn sings "Is That Love?" and admits that he has had throngs of women throwing themselves at him. November 6th, 2000. Direct download (no separate page), 1.2 MB.

Radio 2 with Jonathan Ross - in which Glenn is initially informed that he is not the best guest of the day, but ends up leaving Ross sounding very impressed with him. This is where you can hear "Interviewing Randy Newman" if you haven't before, and he also does "Take Me I'm Yours". Very good interview, run time about 20 minutes. November 4, 2000.

VH1 on the Kate and Jono Show - Audio only, in mp3 format. October 28, 2000

Radio 2 with Janice Long - in which Glenn answers email from fans on the air, refutes allegations that he is a Luddite, and explains why his solo album is taking so long. Great interview! About 20 minutes long. He finishes with the wonderful new song "I Won't See You". October 17, 2000

Glenn and Chris on 'Routes of Rock' - Glenn and Chris show you around some of their old haunts in London. Click on the title to download the video (7.7 MB, direct download). If you can't play videos, there is also a transcription, and video stills to look at. Aired August 21, 2000.

Radio Scotland - direct download of about a megabyte. Sometime in August, in the midst of a bunch of festival dates.

Glenn's Randy Newman interview promoted the album Bad Love. Randy has a cool web site.

Glenn sings 'Up the Junction' on Top of the Pops

Glenn Hosts 'Glastonbury Tales' - in five segments (Monday through Friday) Glenn examines the history of the festival, introduces us to some of the people who make it happen every year, interviews festival-goers, etc. June 19-23, 2000

Randy Newman Interview - in which Glenn interviews Randy Newman for BBC Radio 2. It's interspersed with clips of Randy's songs, which illustrate the points made, and take the listener on a journey through the world of Randy's music. Glenn wrote one of his first solo songs, "Interviewing Randy Newman", based on this experience. Summer 1999

Jack Dee's Happy Hour Theme Song - This is just a little sound file (mp3 or rm). Glenn arranged and sang the theme song to Jack Dee's Happy Hour.

He participated in a short comedy sketch at the beginning and sang "Pulling Mussels (from a Shell)" and "Interviewing Randy Newman". You can download mp3s of the sketch (269K) and "Pulling Mussels" (1MB) directly from this page by clicking on the above links.

Up The Junction - An ancient video of Squeeze that was played on Top of the Pops 2! It's a live one, not the one included on the video collections like Greatest Hits. Only available in asf format, you can download it directly by clicking on the title above (5.4MB). On a Mac you need to play it on Windows Media Player (which you can download for free here), but I think there might be other options for PC users. There are vidcaps too!

2kool4radio interview - A wonderful radio interview with Glenn that was made during the Domino tour in '99. Glenn has a mellow chat with the host and sings three songs: "Domino", "Wichita Lineman", and "The Truth". The 2kool4radio site seems to have taken it down, so I put it up here. Direct download (4.7MB).

Danny Baker jokes that Rolling Stone Magazine once hailed Glenn as "the new Marc Bolan"

Great Media Link!

Danny Baker's Squeeze clips - This page takes forever to load, but its worth it to hear these great sound clips of Glenn and Chris from the 90s. Scroll down and keep your eye on the left hand column for SQUEEZE (right between Weird Science and Gazza's Wedding). You can hear Glenn rap, and see how he does when put to the vocal challenge by a "Stars in Their Eyes" impersonator who calls in, among other things. Lots of fun!
