The podcasts are quality! You can watch them at the Everest Rocks site each day, or sub via iTunes. There's a GORGEOUS version of "Love, Hope & Strength" where our boys shine, both vocally and string-ally (Glenn plays bass of all things!)
She's referring to a song the musicians wrote and recorded that very day, before the actual trek started. Glenn is featured quite heavily in the podcast (Oct 13th), as he is narrating, and you get to see the song take shape. Check it out!
Of course the whole point of this venture is to raise money for the Nepal Cancer Relief Society. Currently cancer patients who can afford good treatment are being flown out of the country, which removes their much-needed money from the Nepali health system. Those who must stay there face surgeries under very poor and unsanitary conditions.
The goal of this climb and concert is to raise enough money to upgrade the local hospital, keeping all of the patients in Nepal. Shannon Foley, of Love Hope Strength (the charity sponsoring Everest Rocks) explains, "If first class treatment could be provided, funding could remain local, and the future of oncology treatment in Nepal would be bright."

Awesome Aussie Glenn interview (in video)!
August 16, 2007
The US Squeeze tour wrapped two nights ago to a euphoric crowd in Saratoga, California. Although Americans are sad to see the band go, they'll soon be playing in the UK! The UK tour has expanded to 13 dates, from November 26 to December 13th. The last date was added just this week, for the Isle of Man. Only two shows have sold out so far, so it's not too late to get your tickets at SqueezeOfficial.com!
There has been a lot of media interest in the tours, and thanks to Roger, Patrick, and Adam, I have the following new interviews with Glenn and Chris for download:
GMTV (video in RealMedia or WindowsMedia - includes 'Take Me')
Front Row Radio 4 (mp3 - highly recommended!)
Capital Gold (breezy and fun!)
The Glenn List has gone absolutely bonkers with tons of gig reports from fans, links to photos and interviews, and discussion of any and all things related to the tours. If you went to a gig and want to talk about it, or if you don't want to miss any news from the UK concerts, that's the place to be! You can also read all the messages that were posted during the US tour in the archives at YahooGroups.com, but first you need to join.
Ken from the Glenn List was even moved to start a Squeeze forum, called Some Fantastic Cyberspace! It's just getting off the ground, but if you prefer forums to mailing lists, now's your chance to help make it a success. Drop by and post something!
The TV interview Glenn did during his Australian tour, which I mentioned in my last update, is now available for download! Patrick was able to capture it from whence it streamed and cobble the pieces together. Download the RealMedia file.

Chillin' in OZ
Helen's GlennReviews site has added a links page! Why is this significant, you may ask? Because over the six years that I have run this site, the VAST majority of the links I have posted here came from Helen. She just plain has a knack for finding the stuff! The brand new links page is already home to a staggering list of web goodies, including recent reviews, articles, and radio interviews, all with brief descriptions. I expect it will be updated regularly, so one to bookmark for sure!
Please Note: the GlennReviews site has moved from .com to .co.uk.
Have fun, folks, and keep the media coming!

Much more news!
May 5, 2007
Some new dates have been announced for both the US and UK Squeeze tours! The new US show is in NJ, which leaves people in the south and the middle of the country to continue anxiously waiting to see what will come up near them.
In the UK, a second London date has been added, and one at the University of East Anglia. There are also two dates in Ireland now! See squeezeofficial.com for details. (Which, incidentally, turns out to be Glenn and Chris' site, not Universal's.)
The new Squeeze compilation album, Essential Squeeze, was released April 30th. It contains two tracks that have never been released before. I think a lot of fans are left scratching their heads as to why they should buy yet another compilation album, and yet they feel suckered into it by the promise of new material. Well, keep reading
My understanding is that this album is meant to draw in new listeners, who will hopefully go on to buy some or all of the re-releases when they come out. The Essential Squeeze bonus tracks will also be available on the re-releases, so if you intend to buy those, there is probably little reason to get the new compilation unless a) you just like to have all the releases, or b) you want to make sure the record sales are high.
If however, you are new to Squeeze, and only discovered them through Glenn's solo career, then this is a great opportunity to be introduced to some of their best songs! The album has only been released in the UK so far, but rumour has it the possibility of releasing it elsewhere is being discussed.
HMV seems to have the best price right now, but it's also available at Glenn's official sites (glenntilbrook.com, quixoticrecords.com), where they ship worldwide, and a larger percentage of your hard earned cash gets to the band itself.
Of perhaps more interest to longtime fans, there is a DVD release by the same name, which contains all of the Squeeze videos we know and love, PLUS all seven of the obscure ones from the 90s! This is your chance to see videos like "Some Fantastic Place", "Sunday Street", and "Satisfied." As if that weren't enough incentive, there is also a 45-minute concert from 1982, containing 14 songs. Check it out at Quixotic Records!
Also in Squeeze news, we finally know what the band line-up will be! Glenn, Chris, and John Bentley will be joined by Fluffers members Stephen Large and Simon Hanson. This news was broken in an interview Glenn did in Australia, which streams in video form (yay!) from this site.
Unfortunately, my computer is too old to handle video streaming, so I haven't seen it. Patrick is busy trying to capture it for me, and if he's successful I'll put it up here in case others are having the same problem.
Glenn's live "Aussie-P" album was indeed sold on his official sites, but only very briefly! I rushed over there as soon as I found out about it, but alas they were already sold out. It was a limited edition, with only 400 copies made.
Glenn's first album of Squeeze demos, The Past Has Been Bottled, was released on April 30th! You can pick it up at all the usual stores, including Glenn's official sites, of course.
Glenn and Chris did a great interview on BBC London this week with Danny Baker, which seems like old times! It's a really fun listen, and you can download it here. Special thanks to Pip, Roger, and Patrick, all of whom recorded it for me! You guys are really on the ball - Pip even sent in screen grabs from the studio cam!
The net continues to explode with Squeeze-related content. Most notably, the excellent Squeeze Reader is back and better than ever! They're doing a fantastic job of keeping us up to date on all manner of Squeeze and Glenn news and rumours. If you haven't been there lately, it's definitely worth a look (and a bookmark).

Solo UK Tour

Glenn's First Demo CD!
April 18, 2007
There is so much Glenn/Squeeze news these days that I really don't know where to start! So bear with me as I attempt to hit the highlights
Glenn continues to be incredibly busy with his solo work, the Squeeze reissue project, and the reunion tours. Right now he is finishing up his solo Australian tour, and getting ready for a 13-date solo tour in the UK this spring. Tour dates can be found, as always, at glenntilbrook.com.
To my astonishment, a US Squeeze tour has already been announced! So far the most current source for dates has been a new site called squeezeofficial.com. Someone on the Glenn List ran across the site before it had even gone live, and broke the news of the US tour to the unsuspecting masses, along with a link to presale tickets for online fans. Total pandemonium ensued, as people scrambled to get tickets and figure out what the mysterious (and expensive) "special VIP packages" were.
The VIP Packages, which are available at this link, along with regular presale tickets, are described on the ticket site as follows:
IN ADDITION TO THE PRESALE TICKETS, THERE WILL ALSO BE A LIMITED NUMBER OF SPECIAL VIP PACKAGES AVAILABLE FOR MOST SHOWS.
VIP Packages are $150 to 175 each (Depending on the City) and include the following:
-A Premium Ticket (Location will be given at time of purchase)
-A Meet and Greet with Squeeze
-A Limited Edition Signed Poster
The ticket site sells "regular" presale tickets for $42-$85, depending on the venue. In order to see what's available and the prices, they make you give out a bunch of private information (name, address, even date of birth and gender!) which I find annoying, so if you are just going to take a look around you can use the userid "squeeze" and the password "tickets" to get in. If you decide to buy something, you will be prompted to give your information at that point.
The new site, Squeezeofficial.com, appears to be Universal's site for Squeeze. (Universal is the record company that owns the rights to most of Squeeze's music, and will be re-releasing all the albums.) In addition, the Squeezefan site has been reopened and revamped!
The official Glenn site states that more US dates will be added to the tour, so if there is nothing near you yet, keep a watchful eye on glenntilbrook.com and Squeezeofficial.com. West coast fans were thrilled to see FOUR dates in California, after a very long Glenn drought!
Squeeze will definitely be touring as a full band, rather than a duo! The very talented John Bentley (of the East Side Story fame) will be playing bass, with the other band members yet to be decided.
--o--

Surprise!
The Past Has Been Bottled is the first CD to come from a long-rumoured project of Glenn's to release his demo recordings from the Squeeze albums. Although there has been no mention of it on glenntilbrook.com so far, it's now available for presale at Amazon.co.uk! The release date is April 30th. You can take a peek at the track listing at Amazon - there are four songs even I've never heard of!
Glenn plans to put out a whole series of these demo collections, perhaps four or five albums. David Bailey of packetofthree.com has heard a lot of the material, and he assures us that the demos are phenomenal!
--o--
Glenn also created a special EP for his Australian tour, which has been selling at the Australian gigs. It's called "Aussie-P", and contains six familiar tracks and one new one, all of them live! You can check out the track listing and cover art at packetofthree.com. If you weren't lucky enough to snap up a copy at an Aussie gig, keep an eye out on glenntilbrook.com, where I have a hunch it will eventually be sold.

Helen from the Glenn List has put together an excellent site containing detailed reviews of the many and varied Glenn gigs she has been to over the years, accompanied by her own photos. She has aptly named it glennreviews.com.
She also spotted this interesting Aussie interview with Glenn. (Don't miss the second page!)

New WXPN Interview
March 9, 2007

Image shamelessly stolen from the Official GT Site
Well, folks, it's finally happening: Glenn and Chris are playing eight dates together as SQUEEZE! They're teaming up to promote a new Squeeze compilation album, which will be followed by re-releases of the entire Squeeze back catalogue*. I don't know yet if they'll be playing with a band or as a duo, but I'm sure more details will surface as the dates get closer!
David Bailey, who is working on the re-release project with Glenn and Chris, recently commented on the Glenn List:
First there's the TV-advertised Essential Squeeze compilation, then the first four re-releases (details on my blog soon) and then the first of Glenn's demo CDs.
Hmm! Demo CDs!
*Details on the re-releases are in an old entry lower down on this news page.
Incidentally, David's blog also contains a really excellent interview with Amy Pickard about her Glenn documentary, One For The Road.
Tickets for the Squeeze gigs go on sale March 16th, and I imagine the sales will be brisk, so don't wait to buy them if at all possible! People are already making plans to travel from Japan and the US to see them, and I wouldn't be surprised if some Europeans were to join in on the pilgrimage. (Sacha? Bringing your camera?)
I have no information about whether Squeeze will be playing in the US at some later date; I can only tell you that there has been no mention of it so far.
--o--
For those fans in Australia, you may be getting to see Glenn perform much sooner! He'll be touring in OZ in just a few weeks. Here are the dates:
30 MARCH Brunswick (Melbourne)
BONUS: This evening starts off with a screening of Amy Pickard's amazing documentary Glenn Tilbrook: One For The Road!
4 APRIL St. Kilda VIC - The Espy, Gershwin Room
With the RocKwiz Orchestra and special guest Linda Bull
13 APRIL Bokarina QLD - Lake Kawana Community Centre
14 APRIL New Farm, Brisbane QLD - Brunswick Hotel
18 APRIL Newtown NSW - The Vanguard
19 APRIL Sydney - The Vanguard
As usual, all the details can be found at glenntilbrook.com.

Kelly sent me this great radio interview Glenn did on a recent trip to Philadelphia, which aired on WXPN. It's from a series called Musicians on Records, and in it he muses about Jimi Hendrix and the effect his music has had on him. Very nice!
--o--
Although you'd never know it from just visiting, Babylonandon.com moved yesterday! All this audio and video stuff takes up a lot of space, and I had filled up the old site, plus its roomy annex! So I decided to move the whole shebang to bigger digs, where I hope to be able to expand on the AV stuff available.
However, I'll need your help to do it! Glenn's radio and tv appearances seem to be thinner on the ground these days, but with the Squeeze tour and the re-releases coming up, I bet his media profile will be higher. It's also possible he'll be doing stuff for the Aussie tour, so I'll be relying on those of you down under to record anything you see or hear!
Wherever you live, please keep your eyes peeled, your ears pricked up, and some blank tapes at the ready. Once you've captured something, drop me a line and we'll figure out how to get your stuff up on the site!
Glenn is also doing a couple of gigs in Singapore! I would *love* to hear from anyone planning to be there.

Glenn's RV on eBay
September 22, 2006
The UK tour dates for Oct/Nov/Dec went up on the official site today! There are 26 gigs, almost all of them solo. The exceptions are the first four, which will be played with Antonio Forcione. I had never heard of him, so I looked him up on the web:
It has been said that Antonio Forcione is "probably the best acoustic guitar player in the world"; he is certainly up there with Tommy Emmanuel in terms of technique and sheer musical eloquence, his playing shares the same fire, passion and inspiration, though Forcione tends towards more jazz (especially gypsy style) and South American influenced styles of playing.
Okay, I don't know who Tommy Emmanuel is, but "gypsy style jazz" is all I need to know! I hope to God someone records this. (Yes, I mean you!)
Kristi sent in some great snaps from Glenn's Annapolis gig, where Glenn is wearing a very nice shirt. Thanks, Kristi! I hope you Brits are charging up your camera batteries....
Glenn's old RV, immortalised in the film documentary One For The Road, is being sold on eBay! The auction only has a few hours left and no bids, so maybe it will be re-listed. In case you want a rather large piece of Glenn memorabilia, the starting bid is only $5,000! Apparently it does run.

Live GT & Fluffers DVD recorded
-plus-
New pics and more news!
September 15, 2006
Glenn and the Fluffers just finished their mini-tour of four gigs in the northeast US, and they went down a storm! The NYC gig was even recorded for an upcoming DVD release, which should be amazing. Carole from the Glenn List chatted with Glenn after the show and reports:
He seemed to want to document this moment in time when he and his band have now completely hit their stride. As the recent gig reviews support, they are so tight in their presentation yet they still enjoy brilliant riffs of improvisation. Seems to me the appropriate word for this moment in Glenn and the Fluffers' time is organic.... He beamed with pride as he said, with a loving sigh, "I Love My Band."
I have no idea when the DVD might become available, but I assume it will take quite some time to go from the raw recording to finished product.
Glenn has been singing some of his new songs at the gigs! What's more, he's written some of them with the Fluffers. 'Beachland Ballroom' was co-written by Stephen Large, and Simon Hanson co-wrote 'Thank You for Visiting'. The third new song is 'Melancholy Emotion', which was evidently inspired by British comedian Malcolm Hardee, who recently passed away. Glenn is still aiming for a September 2007 release for the new album.
There is a new set of pics up from the Stone Pony in NJ just a few nights ago, along with some really lovely shots from the Basildon Festival back in 2003, which really seem to capture the festival atmosphere! Hearty thanks to Scott and Paul for those.
Glenn is going to be hosting a new show on VH1 Classics in the US called 'BBC Crown Jewels'. It will feature rare archival footage from the BBC of tons of great oldschool bands! The first episode airs Monday, Oct 16, at 10PM. My impression is that it's not airing in the UK at this time, but I'd love to get an email informing me otherwise!
David Bailey from packetofthree.com has sent in some great links for Squeeze videos than can be streamed online. The first two are linked from the web site of ex-band member John Savanna (AKA Don Snow), and the next two are on separate pages at YouTube. Enjoy!
Squeeze videos on John Savanna's site
Squeeze at Albany Empire 1980 (YouTube)
Squeeze at Lewisham Odeon 1979 (YouTube)
Although no UK tour dates have been announced yet on the official site for Oct/Nov, there are a LOT of them being advertised by the venues. Paul Kirkley put together a list of 17 of them for the Glenn List, ranging from Oct 2 to Dec 8 (with room set aside Oct 10-15 for the Japanese shows, which are up on the official site).
Of course none of these have been confirmed yet, but it does at least look very much like there will be a tour. So keep your eyes open locally, and check the official site to see if/when the tour dates come up and whether he's playing near you!
For the first time this year I missed doing an update for Glenn's birthday! Hopefully he had a great day on August 31st, when Babylonandon.com also celebrated it's five year anniversary. I was touched to see that many people still carried on the annual tradition of leaving notes for Glenn in my guestbook, and there were lots of congratulatory messages on the Glenn List as well.
Happy belated birthday, Glenn!
The Squeeze Story(book)
-and-
New to the Web!
August 6, 2006

There is a new Squeeze release out, which I can't wait to see! It's called the Squeeze Story, and as I understand it, it's in the format of a book, with two CDs of fan favorites (i.e. plenty of rare releases and oddball choices) tucked inside. The book is the story of the band, covering all their years together, and illustrated with photos that have never been published before. It's written by our own David Bailey from the awesome packetofthree.com site!
You can order The Squeeze Story from UK Amazon or US Amazon, Play.com (UK), etc. Don't be put off by the fact that there is no description at the stores' web sites! They do list the tracks, but that's about it. For more detailed info about what it is, where to get the best deal on it, and where it's sold worldwide, check out David's blog entry.
Which brings me to the main point of this update: The net is exploding with new Glenn and Squeeze-related sites!
Glenn now has a MySpace site, which is awesome. So far the tour dates are still most current at glenntilbrook.com, but it's fun to see the pictures at MySpace, listen to streaming music, and check out all the notes people have left. It seems to be very active!
Glenn also has an entry in Wikipedia now. Wikipedia is like a really giant online encyclopedia, except that anyone can add to the entries. The GT entry could use some work, although it's well done so far. Adding to it might be a fun project for someone.
YouTube has more and more Squeeze videos! Great things that I have never seen before, such as Glenn and Chris performing If It's Love on MTV. Do a search for 'Squeeze' or 'Tilbrook' at YouTube, and you will get videos for Hourglass and Hits of The Year, some live stuff of Glenn's, etc. YouTube seems to be growing exponentially, so I'd advise checking back from time to time.
Also, David Bailey is blogging! This is very good news, since he is involved in a project with Glenn, Chris, and the record companies to re-release all of Squeeze's back catalogue (including the Difford & Tilbrook album and Play)! He writes:
I've been working on the re-releases for a year, with new sleeve notes telling the original story of the recording, new graphics and unseen memorabilia from Glenn's private collection, and unheard songs.
Sounds exactly like what Squeeze fans have been asking for all these years! To keep up with the news about these CDs, keep an eye on David's blog.
David's also been keeping us informed via the Glenn and Squeezefan mailing lists. If you want info on the re-releases without getting a lot of mail, your best bet may be joining Squeezefan. The mail traffic is almost nonexistent, and David will of course post news there.
(CLICK HERE TO RETURN TOP OF PAGE)
In other album release news, Lord Large (Stephen Large from the Fluffers) is releasing a second album soon! You can read all about it at his MySpace page.
And now for the touring info!
I wish I had more to report. I thought Glenn was doing a more substantial US tour next month, but Quixotic has just confirmed that there will be no new dates added, except for one in New Jersey, which should be up on the official site soon.
Glenn expects to release a third solo album of new songs next year (perhaps September), and he will be doing a US tour to support it. I'm told that tour will be more substantial and will include the west coast. (Yay!) I'm sure he will also be touring extensively in the UK to promote it!
There have been some unconfirmed dates reported on the Glenn list that indicate he might be gearing up for another of his semi-annual November UK tours, so British fans should keep an eye on the tour dates at GT.com in case it manifests! So far the prematurely advertised dates have been solo.
And finally, this piccie of the new baby Tilbrook and his at-least-as-cute big brother Leon:

Honestly, how adorable are they?!

Pics and News
June 19, 2006
Babylonandon.com has been on a long hiatus due to a mixed bag of illness, injury, and then a long and lovely vacation. Healed, refreshed, and revitalised, I think I'm finally back! I have missed reporting so many happenings on the Glenn front, but I hope you have kept up by checking glenntilbrook.com often and reading the Glenn List.
Glenn has been continuing to tour in the US and UK this spring, but at a somewhat less breakneck pace. You can find a smattering of dates for July and August at the official site right now, and the beginnings of what will be a US tour in September. I don't know yet whether that will include any west coast dates; fingers crossed!
He'll be playing in Japan for a week in October, and is then planning a more substantial UK tour in November/December. All the dates will be up at glenntilbrook.com as they are scheduled and confirmed.
Glenn and his partner Suzanne welcomed their second son into the world on June 7th! That makes four boys for Glenn, as he has two teenage boys from a previous marriage, and a three year old son with Suzanne. Congratulations to all the Tilbrook family!
Roger has sent in a great video of Squeeze guesting on the old British TV show, French & Saunders! They're performing '853-5937', and I know that's not exactly a timeless classic for most of you, but believe me, it is a great video! Glenn is wearing a long, magenta coat and has a pretty good hair thing going on. French and Saunders are messing around in some black raincoats, and the whole thing is funny and fun. Go have a look!
Photos have piled up while I was gone, and I have new ones up from Sheffield and Albany, NY. Thanks to Helen and Jay for those! Anyone else who has been sitting on pics while I was off the grid, feel free to send them to me now. I prefer to get five or six of your favorites, rather than 30, as I always have a hard time deciding which ones to use!
Did you know Amy Pickard has several radio interviews up on her site for the awesome Glenn documentary, One For The Road? She and Glenn did them together when the film was released on DVD. To listen, go to the Press section at Glennmovie.com and scroll through the mix of articles and interviews. Keep an eye out for Jonathan Ross (top of the page), Christian O'Connell (middle), and Liz Kershaw (bottom).

Glenn will be starting a UK solo tour on February 8th. To see all the dates, go to the Official Glenn Tilbrook Site.
The release date for the Glenn documentary, One For The Road, is finally upon us! People in the UK can find the DVD in stores starting on Monday, and in America it will debut on Tuesday. Director Amy Pickard is in the UK now, doing lots of press for the movie. She and Glenn have the following interviews scheduled:
Monday, 23 January
- 8:45 AM (approximately) on Sky News. Channels: Sky Digital 501, Freeview 82, Telewest 602, NTL 120.
- 11:30 AM Channel 5 News
- 2:30 PM Robert Elms' show on London Live 94.9
- 8:00 PM Tom Robinson's show BBC 6 Music
Glenn and Amy are also juggling their schedules to try to fit in Stuart Maconie's show on BBC Radio 2 (he's filling in for the vacationing Johnnie Walker). The show runs from 5pm to 7pm, and if they manage to get on, it will be Monday or Tuesday this week.
Saturday, 28 January, Glenn and Amy will be on David Jensen's show on Capital Gold. The show runs from 10am to 1pm.
All of the radio shows will be streaming live from their stations' web sites, so those of you outside the UK can click on the links above to go and listen. (To find the time in your time zone, visit TimeAndDate.com.) Some of the interviews might also be archived at the stations' sites, at least for a week.
In other news, Kevin and Peter from the Squeeze cover band SQUEEZED will be performing as a duo in Hitchin at the Pizza Express on Tuesday, January 24th. In addition to Squeeze covers, they will also play hits by other pop bands (Crowded House, Beatles, Monkees, etc.) and some of their own material. The show starts at 7:30, and you can reserve tables on 01462 450596.
The next full-band SQUEEZED gig is at The Diamond in Mansfield (near Nottingham) on Friday, February 10th.

Glenn and The Fluffers were briefly joined by Chris in Glasgow
There are now three pages of pics from the Glasgow gig. The final set is very good, and was sent in by Dominic. Also, Martyn did a particularly fine job of capturing the Dartford gig on film, so there are three pages from that one as well! To see them all, start with the latest, and work your way back.
Happy New year, everyone! Scroll down for info on the release of One For The Road later this month.

December 15, 2005
Sian and Mick sent in some really great photos from Glenn's recent gig in Glasgow, where Chris Difford showed up, and joined Glenn and the Fluffers on stage for a few songs! Mick's pics are a bit dark and indistinct, but he caught a lot of great moments on film, so they're not to be missed. Sian's are clear and beautiful.
Bettina took some really lovely professional quality photos of Glenn and the Fluffers when they played Machynlleth. She has them nicely displayed on her photography site.
Amy Pickard has updated her diary at Glennmovie.com, with all the latest news about One for the Road, which is due out soon! (Scroll down for details about the release.)
David's awesome Squeeze collectors' site, packetofthree.com, continues to be updated regularly with amazing content spanning Squeeze's entire career. He now has a list of every gig ever played by Squeeze or Glenn, along with rare (and excellent) photos of the band, tons of memorabilia, a very comprehensive discography, and much more! The site is very well laid out and easy to surf, despite the fact that it's bursting at the seams with fascinating stuff.
He is currently looking for scans of ticket stubs from any and all concerts, especially the American gigs. You can contact him via the contact form on his site.
It looks like Glenn will be touring at least part of the US this spring. There are a few dates up at Pollstar.com, but none of them have been officially confirmed yet.

The whole 2005 section is new, and there is an addition from last year that I somehow overlooked last time I did this. It's Glenn on the (sadly cancelled) BBC show Jammin'. It's a great one, if you missed it! Particularly amusing is the George Foreman Grill song (sung by another guest), which I learned off by heart to entertain my friends and family. (Confirming their belief that I am on the wrong meds.)
You will have to scroll down for Jammin', which falls between "Glenn and the Fluffers on Jonathan Ross Show" and "Squeeze: Bands Reunited." I put a NEW! next to it to make it easier to locate.
The delightful Squeeze cover band, SQUEEZED, have some upcoming tour dates:
10th December - The Well, Luton
18th December - The Good Ship, Kilburn
20th December - The Garage, Highbury
Check 'em out!
And in case you're new around here, Glenn is in the middle of a mammoth UK tour with his band, The Fluffers. After Christmas he'll be doing a solo UK tour, too! There is even an Amsterdam gig. All the dates and venues (far too many to list here) can be found at glenntilbrook.com.
If you're in America, you can download a live acoustic version of "Domestic Distortion" from iTunes. It was recorded live on WBJB Lincroft NJ. If you include it in your iMixes, that will be excellent exposure for Glenn. (Field staff, take note!) Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be available in the UK.
There's a very good interview with Glenn in a blog called The Maxes. Another blog worth checking out is the Squeeze Reader, which features links to current stuff about past Squeeze members, like Chris Difford and Jools Holland, and of course our Glenn. (I didn't realise the folks at Squeeze Reader had been linking to my site all this time! Thank you.)

Glenn and Lord Large on Radio 2
November 19, 2005
Martyn sent in lots of lovely pictures from the recent gig in Crewe, and yes, some of them are even of Glenn! The band has been doing some unconventional finales these days. Some bands would simply bow, but Jarvis reports from Crewe:
To end the night, the band slowly place all of the drum kit in
various places around the stage, whilst Stephen plays us all a
lullaby ending with the whole band upside down under Stephen's
keyboards. With Stephen still playing the keyboard upside down, and
Glenn and Simon laying across him.
Neil sent in a few snaps from Birkenhead, and although I don't usually make a page unless I can get at least four pics, I had to make an exception because Glenn is so cute in his hat!
pip_3k has come through for us again with a radio interview! This time it's Glenn and Lord Large on Janice Long's BBC Radio 2 show. There is a full band, and they play several songs, one with Glenn singing, and a few with another vocalists from the Lord Large album. It's a really good interview; you get the feeling you're a fly on the wall in a room where a bunch of musical geniuses are just doing their thing. Which, of course, is exactly what's happening! You can download it directly by clicking here (4.6 MB).
Machynlleth pics!
November 13, 2005
Helen sent in some REALLY nice pictures from the gig in Machynlleth (Wales) last night! Be sure to check those out.
There is a little write-up about the Welsh gigs here, which is unremarkable except that it has downloadable wav files of some Squeeze rarities such as "Jumping" and "Fighting for Peace"! I haven't tried them, and assume they're just clips, but still...
Incidentally, I got the spelling for "Tabernacl" at the above site, so if I have it wrong, please let me know!
Which brings me to a bigger question: Who is dressing Glenn? He looks fantastic! I suspect Lucy had a hand in it, since she always looks great, but if this keeps up I think someone needs to actually ask him.

Wow! Lovely photo by Mitzi. (Click here for larger image)
Also in the news, Stephen Large is selling one of his Lord Large singles at the gigs! I'm not sure which one it is, but he sold out very early at Machynlleth, so if you want one, be sure to get to the merchandise stand early!

Glenn and Stephen "Lord" Large on Music 6
November 12, 2005
Glenn and the Fluffers have kicked off their huge UK tour this week, and Helen has already sent in some lovely pics from last night's gig at the Talbot in Tregaron, Wales!
Glenn was on BBC Radio's Music 6 last week with Fluffers keyboardist Stephen Large. They were on Phill Jupitus' breakfast show, promoting Stephen's new project. He is putting together an album under the name Lord Large, which includes tracks sung by several different vocalists around the world.
Glenn contributed by writing the lyric and singing on one of the singles, which is called "Don't Stick Around Too Long". Some of you who have seen him live recently may recognise it as the mysterious "cheese eating surrender monkeys" song!
The interview starts off with the Glenn track in full, and then it's mostly chat about the album. It's all very lively and funny! You can download the whole thing here, thanks to pip_3k, who even converted it to realmedia for us! Pip also took some screen grabs of the studio cam, which I have put up on the download page.
Personally, after I heard the interview I had more questions than answers. Such as: Why is Stephen calling himself Lord Large now? And who the heck is the other guy in the interview?
Thankfully, I found this illuminating quote from the splash page at stephenlarge.com:
Lord Large is a silly name that refers to an alter-ego used by me in musical stuff that's of a 60's soully, loungey, lo-fi funky kind of bent, showcased in an album soon to be released called "Lord Large Presents..."
Aha!
And in answer to the second question: "Andy, the other guy on the Jupitus show is my partner in the project, and plays drums, produces, and acts as quality control." So there you go! All questions answered here at Babylonandon.com.
To learn more about Stephen's album, see his web sites at lordlarge.com and stephenlarge.com. (I found it most helpful to start with the History section of the Lord Large site.)
The album is due out in February or March, on Acid Jazz Records. The single heard in the interview will be released officially in January, but you will soon be able to download all the songs from both singles from iTunes.

Bruce has sent in some fun pictures from Glenn's recent US mini tour! They're from the first of two Philadelphia gigs at the Tin Angel.

UK Tour starts SOON!
October 28, 2005

Luckily, Glenn realised that while in Australia he would have to
play upside down. (Photo by Raymond Butler)
Glenn survived his Australian tour, and I've got the photos to prove it! Hearty thanks to Raymond for the ones from Sorrento, and to Alwyn for the Kangaroo Ground pics.
There are also some great new pictures from Glenn's gig at the Housing Works Used Book Cafe in New York. They were taken back in May, when Glenn did a major US tour with the Fluffers. (Housing Works is a not-for-profit organisation that provides help for homeless people living with HIV and AIDS.)
During that tour, Denise took a fantastic series of pictures in Atlanta. After giving the matter long and careful thought (five months is fitting for a matter of this import, I reckon), I decided to link to Denise's site rather than bring her pictures over here. When they're all together they really show the energy and vivacity of the gig in a way that couldn't be conveyed if I just took a few of them to use here. So go click through them! It's almost like being there.
Glenn has been back in the US this week, playing solo in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Philly. He plays the last gig of the mini-tour tonight at Stephen's Talkhouse in Amagansette NY.
He and the Fluffers will be embarking on a massive 28-date UK tour, starting November 10th! They'll be traveling to some places he's never played before, so be sure to check out the official site for tour dates to see if they're playing near you!
Michelle sent in a great interview from Austin's KGSR Radio, which you can download directly by clicking here. (3.5 MB) The beginning is missing, but it's one of those interviews that starts out with standard fare and then delves deeper as it goes on, so we're just getting to the best part that much faster.
Happy Halloween, everyone! (Boo.)
Glenn's Birthday!
-and-
Aussie tour starting
August 31, 2005

Forty-eight and looking great!
Today is Glenn's birthday, and also the five year anniversary of Babylonandon.com! That means it's also roughly Glenn's fifth year as a solo artist, and it's amazing to look back at all the photos and old news updates on this site and see just how much he's done in that time. He clearly hasn't been resting on his laurels post-Squeeze!
Congratulations, Glenn! Here's to you, and all of your accomplishments.
Speaking of accomplishments, Dave Weil has got to be one of the very best unofficial Glenn photographers around. Lucky for you, I have new pics of Dave's up from the last time Glenn hit Nashville.
Glenn announced at the beginning of his most recent Derby gig that he would be playing "a number of songs in tribute to the cover band SQUEEZED!" (hehe) But you know, if you want to see the real thing you'll have to check them out in person at the Marquee in Hertford on Sept. 2nd. Don't forget to say hello to the band; they're massive Glenn fans too!
Glenn launches his Australian tour Sept 3rd. Check out the official Glenn Tilbrook site for all the dates and venues. I would love to hear from any Australians who go to the gigs! You can email me, or join the Glenn List where you'll find hundreds of fans waiting to hear about your gig experience.
There was an excellent article in the Washington Post that mentioned Glenn as one of a rare breed of performers who can create a "great Live Concert Moment." Here's a bit of the writer's definition:
"It's about music, but it's also about an experience that's ephemeral and communal...It's the sense that this whole evening means as much to the band as it does to you. It's great songs multiplied by killer performance multiplied by giddy fan reaction."
Hm! Read the rest of the article and see what he's on about.
Please feel free to leave Glenn a birthday message in my guestbook!
