Merry Christmas!
December 21, 2003

Some of you may have noticed that Santa Glenn took a long time getting to the site this year. Well, there's a good reason for that! I have been working very hard on a Special Project that I had hoped to have ready in time for Christmas. However, it's taking longer than expected, and now I'm not sure I can meet that deadline. Never mind - I think you'll enjoy it just as much a few days late! (Check back soon)

So for now, all I have to offer is my warmest wishes for the wintery holiday of your choice, and the following small announcement:

If you have never heard the Squeeze single "Christmas Day", you will definitely want to tune in for Nick DiBiasio's show on WICN (netcast worldwide) on, well, Christmas Day! The show starts at 8 PM Eastern time (1 AM in UK), and don't be late cos it will be the first song he plays.

Happy Holidays, everybody!

New pics
December 15, 2003

There are fantastic new pics up from the gigs in Morecambe and Workington! In Workington Glenn was invited on stage by a local band, Skoal Bandits, after his set. If you enjoyed them at Glenn's gig, Skoal Bandits are playing again at Monroe's Bar (Workington) on January third.

There is a nice review of Glenn's Middlesbrough gig at the BBC Tees site.

More great pictures from the U.K. tour coming soon!

Oops! Lost mail
December 8, 2003

I have been having problems with my email for the past two weeks. If you sent me something (to any address) and I didn't respond, please re-send it. If you have my cyber-dyne address, don't send mail there, since that was the source of my email woes.

I have lovely photos for you, which I promise to put up soon. Could still use more, though! Let me know if you're sitting on some good ones.

U.K. Tour blazes on
-and-
What, no pics?

December 2, 2003

Glenn plays tomorrow (Dec 3) in Bolton, then Derby, Aldershot, Scarborough, Middlesbrough, Colchester, and Crewe. For details see quixoticrecords.com.

However, it's possible there may be other Glenn tours going on simultaneously, at least according to Glenn's own stage anecdotes. Nigel reports from Sunday's gig in Stoke:

Glenn told the tale of how he is only one of a team of replica Glenns that tour the world doing gigs. Then once a year they all meet in a convention to have motivational talks from the real Glenn.

Which is better than what he told the audience in Bilston:

He's now one of the eight or so copies of Glenn (called 'The Tilbrooks') who work for him and go touring in his place. He's a copy of the 1983-5 long haired Tilbrook. The real Glenn Tilbrook is apparently a rather bitter, twisted individual who lives behind a black curtain and won't see anybody.

Very disturbing. My advice? You'd better hurry up and go see him NOW, before he cracks up completely!

I haven't received any pictures yet from this tour. Usually the U.K. tours are so well-documented! If you have any you'd like to share, please drop me a note.

Amy Pickard's Glenn documentary, One For The Road, is finally finished, and she's entering it in film festivals. You can read all about it in her most recent diary entry!

U.K. Tour underway!

Audio & Video updated

November 26, 2003

Glenn's current U.K. tour started on Saturday in Birmingham. Reports are that he STILL has not cut his hair! It's the longest it's been in 20 years, as far as I can tell. Grow on, Glenn hair!

Glenn plays in Birkenhead tomorrow night (Thurs the 27th), followed by Morecambe (Fri), Workington (Sat), and Stoke (Sun). He'll then take two days off, before playing seven more dates. To find out where and when, visit glenntilbrook.com or Quixotic Records!

The Glenn Tilbrook Message Board has been lively lately. Check out new threads on guitar tabs for Glenn and Squeeze songs, and reviews and discussion of the current tour!

I finally updated the Audio & Video section, so now all the stuff that used to be linked only from the news page is in the AV section too. There are seven "new" downloads in all - everything from 2003, plus the mp3 of Glenn and Chris Difford singing "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day", which is almost in season again!

Happy Thanksgiving, Americans! Check out this festive site suggested by Paula.

Startling Merch Sale Discovery!

November 12, 2003

During the last U.S. tour, Glenn appeared on a Colorado TV station's morning news. Tom S. videotaped it for me, and now I have it up for download! It's a good (short) interview, followed by a song, which you can download directly (7 MB).

It's good to see Glenn on American TV again. Maybe he should make the rounds some more with his toothbrush collection! (I don't even remember what that show was called, but it was highly amusing!)

Glenn's U.K. tour starts November 22nd in Birmingham. For all the dates, check out GT.com or Quixotic. There is a date in Colchester on December 9th, which may be new to you.

Each time I go to the Squeeze Merchandise Sale at Quixotic I find that new stuff has been surreptitiously added. Sneaky! Keep a sharp eye on it if you're interested, as some items go really fast, and there is no indication on the main page that the list has been updated.

The Squeeze Greatest Hits DVD is now being sold at both GT.com and Quixotic. For your convenience, Quixotic has stuck it up on the Squeeze merch sale page (in addition to the CD order page), so you don't have so many forms to fill out if you're shopping for both.

Glenn has been in the studio, working hard on his album(s).

Squeeze DVD
October 31, 2003

After several false starts, Universal has finally coughed up the promised Squeeze DVD of Greatest Hits videos. If you tried to buy it during one of my earlier announcements and didn't get anywhere, now is the time to order it!

The DVD can be a little hard to track down, but Quixotic Records will have it very soon, and they ship anywhere in the world. Other web sites carry it, but Quixotic usually have very competitive prices, and if you buy from them a larger percentage of your money will go back into Glenn's company.

The DVD is region zero, but it's in PAL format. This means that although it will not play in regular North American DVD players, people from all countries should be able to play it in their computer DVD players.

All the web sites I've seen so far have wacky track listings for this release, and most of them say it's in region 2, but this "information" should be roundly ignored. My friend Roger has a copy in his hot little hand, and confirms that it is region 0 and has the same tracks as the original Greatest Hits video. (Including "Hits Of the Year"! Yay!)

As far as I know there are no plans to release the DVD in the U.S. (Booo!)

Happy Halloween, everyone!

"Introvert" video

Squeeze merch sale

October 23, 2003

Maggie and Mark have sent in a really fantastic video clip (2.5 MB) camcordered from Glenn's recent appearance at the Bulkeley Arms (May 23rd). He performs that much-loved Squeeze rarity, "Introvert", which was a B-side to the Love's Crashing Waves single (Difford & Tilbrook album, ca. 1983). You can find the lyrics to the song at Squeezefan.com. Special thanks to Glenn for letting me use this clip!

The Quixotic Records site is having a Squeeze merchandise sale starting today! Some of the items are in very short supply, so be sure to check it out right away if you're interested. They have sweatshirts, tees, albums, etc. Even Frank! I heartily recommend the complete set of Mumbo Jumbo fanzines, which have great exclusive photos and are a really good read.

The list of Glenn's upcoming U.K. tour dates is complete and can be found at Quixotic or GlennTilbrook.com.

Q104.3 Radio Interview

Glenn at VH1 Studio

The Gap rocks

September 24, 2003

Glenn wrapped up his U.S. tour this month, but there are already 14 new U.K. tour dates listed for November and December. Check out GlennTilbrook.com.

Before his last American show, Glenn stopped in at Radio Q104.3 for an interview, which you can download here (4.9 MB). Among other things, Glenn announces his name change to G. Tilly, and sings one of his new (not yet released) songs, "Neptune". It's a fun interview and runs about a half an hour. Special thanks to Teresa for sending it in!

While Glenn was in the U.S., he recorded a show for VH1 Classic. It will air in America on October 5th from 6:00 to 10:00 AM Eastern, repeating at 2 PM and again at 10 PM. Videos from the regular rotation will be interspersed with Glenn performing songs and hanging out with the VJ. Unfortunately, it won't be shown on the U.K version of VH1 Classic.

The Gap has been airing a commercial on U.S. television that features the Squeeze song "Tempted'! You can view the commercial at Gap.com.

Attention, New York!
(Q104.3 interview)

September 8, 2003

Glenn will be interviewed live on New York's Q104.3, Sept. 9th at 8:00 AM. Unfortunately, the radio station doesn't stream, so I will be counting on you New Yorkers to tape the broadcast for my site!

While I was at the site, I noticed they have a "Babe of the Day". Was very disappointed to find not Glenn, but some chick in a thong. I think we should petition Q104.3 to feature Glenn as Tuesday's babe!

Barry took some really nice pictures on Friday at the House of Blues, and then he made a snappy web page for them. Don't just look at the fingernails (small pics); it's really worth it to load the bigger images!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GLENN!
August 31, 2003

A rare snap of G Tilly, keepin' it real at the VMAs

Today Glenn is 46, and Babylonandon.com is three! I'd like to give a big shout out to everyone who's contributed to the site and helped make it a success. Thank y'all!

Today's goodies include:

A new radio interview! Glenn on WCPN, Cleveland. It was netcast, but if you missed it you can download it here.

New pics! See Glenn's hair and the fan (no, not that kind of fan!) battle it out on stage in Dave Weil's photos from Nashville. Then, check out David Golden's photos from Glenn's recent (June) show at The Brook in Southampton.

Also, Maggie informs us that Squeeze mobile phone ring tones can be had at the EIL site!

If you haven't bought the Squeeze DVD "Greatest Hits" yet, you can save £5 from EIL's price by using this special coupon at Splash DVD. It gives you £2 off, plus their usual free p&p.

Special thanks to Patrick (known professionally as P Batty) for Glenn's VMA wardrobe and accessories!

Glenn, you will find birthday greetings from fans who love you in my guestbook!

Party with us!
-at-
Glenn's Global Birthday Bash

August 27, 2003

WICN Radio and the Glenn List are hosting an online party to celebrate Glenn's birthday! The fun starts this Saturday at 7:00 PM Eastern time (midnight in Britain). Fans from around the world will meet up for a live chat at the YahooGroups site (and probably on AIM), while we listen to groovy Glenn and Squeeze tunes from Nick DiBiasio's radio show. Helpful Hint: U.K. people often show up an hour or two early at these shindigs, in order to stay awake. (Plus it gives them more drinking time!)

Nick's radio show will be streamed over the net. You can listen to it with Windows Media Player, whether you're at the party or not. People in Central New England can tune in the old fashioned way at 90.5 FM. Nick will be giving away free tix to both of Glenn's gigs in Boston, and may even have a special guest or two up his sleeve!

Glenn's actual birthday is Sunday, August 31st. Please feel free to leave him a note in my guestbook!

U.S. Tour Blazes On

Cleveland Radio interview

Moonlighting in Austin

August 17, 2003

After taking two weeks off to work on an upcoming album, Glenn's U.S. tour will return in full force this Friday in Nashville. He goes on to play Dayton OH (Sat), Chicago (Sun), and Cleveland (Tues 26th), finishing out the week in Pittsburgh (27th), Sea Bright NJ (29th), and Amagansett NY (30th). This tour goes well into September, so be sure to check out the full list of dates and information at Quixotic or the newly renovated Official GT site.

Glenn is scheduled for a radio interview on Cleveland's WCPN (90.3 FM) on August 26th from 12:30 to 1:00 PM Eastern Time. Happily, the station is netcast. Be warned that Glenn's promptness, and even attendance, are subject to the whims of the RV!

Glenn clearly endorses "Country Music's Worst Nightmare"

The night before Glenn's Austin show, he sat in with the local Cornell Hurd Band for part of their regular Thursday night gig at Jovita's Cantina. An unknown source reports:

Cornell asked him to do a few numbers with the band ("Sea Cruise", "I Saw Her Standing There", "Route 66" and "Groovy Kind Of Love") and it was a rousing success! The place went absolutely nutz!! The dance floor filled up, the band took their performance up several notches, cameras were flashing, people screaming and smiles everywhere.

Some of those camera flashes were coming from Drew Julian, who kindly offered me his pics to back up the story.

The next night, Squeeze/Glenn "virgin" Rob got to fulfill his lifelong ambition of seeing Glenn in concert. He wrote up a great report of his experience of the Austin gig on his website, including a captivating tragi-comic event (illustrated with photos) involving Glenn's socks!

San Francisco pics

Squeeze-y tidbits

August 12, 2003

I have made good on my threat to put up my own pics from the San Francisco gig, and I also have this fun single shot from Rob Legge, who attended the Tempe, AZ gig. (Sorry, Glenn!)

Has anyone else been snapping pics? I'd love to hear from you. Frankly, the Brit fans are putting us Americans to shame!

The Official Glenn Tilbrook site, which has long been in a state of some neglect, has been totally redesigned! It looks great, and should be reliably up to date now, as it's being run by the same person who does the Quixotic site. Check it out! If the site looks the same, or you can't get in, follow this link, and then re-bookmark it.

VH1 Classic is sponsoring this tour, which means they are very likely to play our Squeeze video requests. They have an All-Request Hour every day (shown at 1 PM and 9 PM), and they take email requests at VH1ClassicRequests@vh1.com. Drop them a line, and see your favorite Squeeze video while simultaneously promoting Glenn's tour!

The BBC TOTP2 site has recently added a Squeeze microsite. It has a detailed biography of the band, plus sound and video clips (some I hadn't seen, such as "Slap and Tickle"!) If the popup window won't play the video, click on "non-embedded clip" at the bottom.

Also in Squeeze news, there is a DVD video version of Greatest Hits to be released September 8th in the U.K.! To my great disappointment, they dropped "Hits of The Year" (so we'll have to request that a lot on VH1 Classic), but otherwise it has the same track list as the VHS video of the same name, only in 5.1 surround sound and DVD quality. The format is region 2 PAL, which means it will not play in North American or Australian DVD players (Europe only).

Glenn plays Friday, August 15th at the Cactus Cafe in Austin. Bring your camera!

U.S. Tour Underway!
August 4, 2003

Glenn's current U.S. tour started July 26th in San Francisco, and I was there! It was a sight to behold - Glenn was in fantastic form, great voice, and played to a very enthusiastic crowd. What's more, I finally got to see the orange cords and the big hair up close and personal. (I give them both two enthusiastic thumbs up! But then you knew I would.)

You can read my full gig report on the GT Message board.

I took some pictures, but I ain't no rock photographer. I may put them up anyway as incentive for you to send me your own snaps from the tour!

This week Glenn's playing in Denver (Tues), Colorado Springs (Weds), Boulder (Thurs), and Dallas (Sat). He'll take a week off to work on songwriting for his next album, and resume the tour in Austin on August 15th. He plays 14 more cities across the country after that, so be sure to check out the tour dates at Quixotic!

Some people went to Quixotic last week, horrified to find that a few of the dates had disappeared. This was just a web site glitch (which has since been rectified): ALL THE DATES ARE STILL ON.

*NEW* Glenn Tilbrook Message Board!
July 10, 2003

Glenn's U.S. record label, What Are Records, has made a message board for him! This is great news because it means that people who don't want to sign up to the mailing list can ask questions and discuss Glenn right on the web. If you are unclear about the difference between a message board and a mailing list, I made a special page for you.

Have fun at the new Glenn Tilbrook Message board!

New U.S. Dates
July 6, 2003

Quixotic Records has added tour dates for Glenn in Denver, Austin, and Nashville. No more dates will be added for this tour. Check out the full list of 25 gigs across the country at the Quixotic Site!

Narberth Pics
-and-
Field Staff Hiatus

June 29, 2003

Helen sent in some of her wonderful pics from Narberth, which really capture a lot of personality! Take a gander.

The Field Staff is on hiatus for this upcoming tour. If you would like to hang posters anyway, you can still download the one Roger made for the last tour, which prints out on your printer on normal-sized paper. There is a space to write in the venue, date, and time, then just make photocopies. If you need help downloading, please drop me a note. Sadly, you will not be able to get in free for your efforts this time, as there is no one available to coordinate it. However, next tour the Field Staff will be reorganised and re-energised, so it's not good bye it's just good night!

Amy Pickard from Glennmovie.com has designed some flyers for download to help spread the word about her project. Aimee Mann and Elvis Costello are both touring very soon (click on their names for the PollStar dates), and Amy would be extremely grateful to any Glenn fans planning to attend who would be willing to bring along some flyers and leave a little stack of them in the bathroom, or even pass them out after the show. For more info, check out her new diary entry.

Glenn will be playing on Stage 1 at the Basildon Festival on the 20th of July. If you attend, look for Glenn photos from this site on the flyers and programme taken by Paula Cuccurullo and Philippa. (Woo! Go, girls.)

More Pics!

Galway Article

June 23, 2003

Susan and Maggie have sent in more great pictures from Sheffield, so I created a second page of photos from that gig. Paul Kirkley sent me this gorgeous photo from the Birmingham gig, which really can't be appreciated fully unless it's huge, so I gave it it's own page. Fantastic photo with flawless composition!

The Galway Advertiser did an interesting article on Glenn. Ironically, it's called "A Slice of Life with Glenn Tillbrook"! (See my last news update)

Belfast City Beat Interview
June 15, 2003

Glenn was interviewed on the Northern Irish radio station Belfast City Beat (96.7 FM) today. Thanks to Roger, you can download it here and listen. It's a fun, short interview that Roger aptly describes as "a slice of Glenn's life."

U.S. Tour Dates
-and-
Blackpool, Southampton pics

June 13, 2003

Glenn's U.S. tour dates have been announced at Quixotic. He will be RVing across America throughout late July, August, and early September. He's taking a two week break in the middle to do some recording.

Right now Glenn is in Ireland, playing tomorrow (Sat, June 14) in Waterford, then on to Belfast and Galway, finishing the tour with two nights in Dundalk.

Helen, Rona, and Gill have sent in FANTASTIC pics from the just-completed U.K. tour. Gill's Southampton pics tell the story of the gig. Among the Blackpool pics, Helen continues to wow us with incredibly sharp, clear shots, while Rona's take on a more artistic bent and give us a bit of a panoramic view.

Did anyone record the Radio Wales interview? Please email me!

Sheffield Pics
May 30, 2003

Helen sent in some very nice pics from the Sheffield gig for our viewing pleasure. This is the first batch of pictures I received from this tour, and I'd love to have more! Email me if you have some to share.

Amy Pickard has updated her online diary, giving us a glimpse into her world as a first time filmmaker doing a documentary on… our Glenn, of course! Let your imagination roam wild as you pontificate with her on the perfect opening sequence for the movie at Glennmovie.com.

Irish tour announced
-and-
Orange trousers spark controversy

May 27, 2003

Glenn's U.K. tour is now underway, and he has also added several Irish tour dates to his itinerary.

He kicked off the tour with this fashion statement, which caused quite a stir. The controversy was only heightened when the orange trousers in question failed to show up at the next gig. One fan reported:

The good people of Stockton were outraged when Glenn Tilbrook appeared minus the orange cords at the Georgian Theatre last night. The show continued despite protests from all sections of the audience at the lack of brightly coloured cords.....you'll know next time Glenn.

I guess he will! Keen observers will also note he is playing a new guitar in the photo.

U.K. Tour starts May 23
May 6, 2003

The final tour date for Glenn's U.K. tour is now up at the Quixotic site, making the list of upcoming gigs complete. If you're an American, keep your pantyhose on - there will be a U.S tour this summer!

[If you're a Brit, "pantyhose" are those sheer beige tights. It's just an expression, and implies no disrespect to male fans, whether you wear pantyhose or not.]
