New York Treat!

Ink 19 article
May
31, 2002
Glenn
will be playing outside the NYC cafe Tea and Sympathy this Sunday
around 3:30. Just head down to 108-110 Greenwich Ave, between
7th and 8th Avenue, and mill around (or go inside if there's room!)
Don't forget your camera.
Ink
19 has a great Glenn interview up that's really in-depth and
interesting. I highly recommend it!

Michelle
from the Glenn
List and my radio station requests
page sent in some cool pics from Chicago's
gig, and Michael sent in some gorgeous ones from the Ocean
Park County Library gig in New Jersey. I would love to see
YOUR pics!
My
email address has been taken from this website (without my permission)
to be used as a "from" address for porn junk mail. Just
so you know, I am NOT an 18 year old college student who had to
put up naked pictures of herself to get into the sorority of her
choice. I would never join a sorority.
Amy
at Glennmovie.com
has updated her diary
again (May 23), telling us about her last hurrah (for now) on
the road with Glenn and Suzanne. Very entertaining reading! Also,
Scott Tribble at Musician.com
did a very nice Glenn interview. (Look under "Articles &
Interviews")

KRVM
interview!
-and-
Glenn tours on
May 20, 2002I
am proud to report that Glenn did this KRVM
interview in my very own hometown of Eugene. That meant that
for the first time I was flying solo as far as the recording was
concerned. I did passably well, considering I didn't know the
interview time and was rushing around primping for the gig! However,
I missed the first few words.
Far
from Oregon now (land of sprained ankles and broken RVs), Glenn
is still on tour. He's playing the Tin Angel tomorrow night in
Philly (where he will be back on the 25th), then on to
Hoboken NJ Weds, NYC on Thurs and Fri, and finally
Nashville on the 27th. If you live in one of those areas,
keep an ear cocked towards whichever radio station tends to interview
him, because I imagine there are other unannounced interviews
going on!
Radio
Scotland interview

Various links
May 17, 2002
Brian
Morton's interview on Radio Scotland is one
of those fantastic long, relaxed chats. Morton obviously knows
his subject, and the interview and songs just flow naturally.
Nothing has been cut from this one, and Glenn was in particularly
fine form, singing and strumming beautifully. Hats off to Brian,
and special thanks to Gill for digitising it!
Helen
has sent me several interesting links. Hybrid
Magazine did a really excellent Glenn interview with nice
use of Glenny photos. BBC
Tyne did a review of the Newcastle Opera House gig from March.
It is full of factual inaccuracies, but gets "graphic innovation
points" for manufacturing their own new photo. (It's a video
still from Never Mind the Buzzcocks.) They also come up with imaginative
new titles for his songs, such as "Parallel Universe"
and "First Summer"
Finally,
there is an interview at Radio
Warwick's site, which you can download as a 2 MB mp3. It's
from before the album was out, and starts off with a lot of the
same old questions and answers, but has a few surprises at the
end. Enjoy!

Comcast's Studio C again!
May 9, 2002
Glenn
continues his U.S tour, playing Dayton OH tomorrow (the
10th), then Toronto on the 15th, and Buffalo NY
on the 16th. Many more east coast dates follow, including one
in Nashville - for details visit the Quixotic
Tour Dates page!
Tom's
pics from the "meet and greet" in Denver, Colorado
are now up. They're gorgeous! Very nice "ladies room"
tee on Glenn, too. For those interested (that's everyone, right?)
he does have those plaid trousers with him and has worn them at
a few shows, including Chicago. I have also heard vague murmerings
about purple shoes, but so far no photographic documentation.
It
turns out Comcast (CN8) does NOT sell videos of Glenn's Studio
C performance. Those of you who ordered this fictitious item will
get your checks back. However, as luck would have it they are
re-airing the show on Sunday! Check your local listings for the
time. I assume this means you will also be able to stream
it from the web. If anyone can videotape it for me, please
get in touch.

Almost healed
May 7, 2002
Glenn
will be playing in London on July 13th at Southward Park, Surrey
Quays from 7 to 8 PM. Several other bands are performing as well,
and the evening will finish up with a fireworks display. Admission
is free.
Well,
we did it! We healed Glenn's ankle - sort of. He's off his crutches
now, but still sitting during the gigs. Better keep up the healing
vibes! (Scroll down two updates for details and handy visual aid)

Freshly healed
Glenn seeks alternative use for his crutch
Tom
sent in some fantastic pics from Glenn's show in Denver, but I
haven't been able to get them up yet. Look for those and the Radio
Scotland interview (excellent!) in the next update. Scott provided
the crutch photo above.
There
have been some good reviews in the U.S. papers, including Seattle's
Eastside
Journal and The
Denver Post. Also, Glennmovie.com
has been updated (May 2nd) with more amusing anecdotes from Amy
on the road with Glenn. Look for them in the Diary
section.
The
Americans have been very quiet! I'd love to hear any reports of
Glenn's gigs, especially those off the beaten path. And don't
be shy about sending
in your pictures or telling me about press reviews I have
failed to link to. It's all good!

Pics, Field Staff, etc!
April 26th, 2002
(Mom's birthday!)
Glenn's
U.S. tour is continuing despite not only a badly sprained ankle,
but also the early demise of the RV he was touring in! Amy Pickard,
who filmed the not-yet-finished Glenn documentary, One For The
Road, has joined the tour to help with driving. You can read all
about her adventures in the frequently updated diary
section at Glennmovie.com.
Steve
sent in some nice
pics from the gig in Sacramento. I would love to see YOUR
pictures from the tour! Please send
them on in.
If
you are in the GT Field Staff or
would like to be, the contact person has changed. Corey
is the one you should get in touch with if you want to join, or
if you're wondering where your posters are. (Corey@whatarerecords.com)
If
you live in or near Minneapolis, Glenn is doing a meet and greet
at Brit's Pub and Eating Establishment on Friday, May 3rd. It's
free, but you must be over 21 to get in. He'll be there to sign
things and socialise from 6:30 to 7:30.I
enjoyed this rather
irreverent review of Glenn's Seattle gig from TheStranger.com.
Thanks to jiffxx for the link!
Heal
Glenn's ankle!
-and-
Glennmovie.com
April 19, 2002
Well,
I finally met Glenn. Then I broke him! He twisted his ankle very
badly at the Eugene gig. Luckily I was available to help him ice
it down and (after an appropriate resting period) administer The
Healing Art of Tickling. Sadly, even that wasn't enough to completely
heal his injury.
So
we're gonna have to heal him with the power of our collective
minds, Uri
Geller style! Please take a moment to place your hand on the
image of Glenn's poor ankle below (ignoring for the time being
what definitely appears to be non-vegetarian footwear) and send
him some prayers, healing vibes, etc.

"Concentrate!!"
Finished?
Okay. Glenn thanks you! (With the power of his mind.)
Glennmovie.com
is an awesome new website for the Glenn documentary that was filmed
during the last RV tour and is currently going through the long
editing process. It has GREAT pics of Glenn, Suzanne, and the
documentary team. Also, very funny bios from everyone (Q &
A style), and a diary section where you can get updates on how
the doc is progressing. Check it out!
By
the way, no gig cancellations are expected - Glenn is bounding
around on crutches and has even continued taking the audience
on walkabouts!
Special
thanks to Judy from Serious Massage Company for the laying on
of hands idea
Yet
more U.S. dates!

Scotland & Macclesfield pics
April 11, 2002
Glenn
kicks of his U.S. tour tomorrow night in Petaluma, CA! New gigs
have been confirmed for Madison WI, Dayton OH, Pawling NY, and
a second one in NYC. For details, go to the Quix
Tour Dates. Nashville will be the last show of the tour, but
expect more gaps to be filled in on what has now been affectionately
nicknamed The Obscure Tour.
Helen
sent in some fantastic pics from Macclesfield,
and Paula sent in some really nice ones from Glasgow
and Edinburgh. Check them out in Live
Pics 2002!

New pics
April 4, 2002
Glenn
has added gigs in Sacramento, Boise, Park City (Utah), Kansas
City, Milwaukee, NYC, and Nashville! For details check out Quixotic's
Tour Dates or the Official
GT site. If you'd like to poster for the gigs, please contact
Deb@WhatAreRecords.com.
Philippa
sent in some great
pics from the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh. I almost wept with
joy to see the return of the black and white plaid trousers circa
1994! I got so inspired that I finally made an index page for
the 2002 photos. Those are
the only pics I have from the March U.K tour, so if you have some,
please send them to me!
Thanks.
I
also added the 6 Radio info to the Radio
Requests section. If you know of a radio station that might
play Glenn's music, please email
Michelle! It would be great to have stations to contact in
advance of each stop on his U.S. tour.
Don't
forget: Glenn is on on Radio
Scotland tomorrow (April 5th, 6:15 PM U.K. time) for a whole
fifty minutes!
Poster
for Glenn!
-and-
CN8 concert video
March 27, 2002
Glenn's
upcoming U.S. tour includes a lot of towns he hasn't played before
as a solo artist. This means we need Field
Staff in those areas! If you would like to hang some posters
for a gig near you, please email
Deb at What Are Records. Give her your name, mailing address,
and specify which city you will be postering for. The first person
to volunteer for each city will be put on the guest list "plus
one" (meaning you can bring a friend). Deb absolutely will
not spam you - in fact the only answer you are likely to get is
posters in the mail!
Pollstar.com
has additional dates listed for the tour. These should be considered
unconfirmed (i.e. they might not come to pass) until they are
announced at Quixotic,
but you might be interested in taking
a look anyway. Thanks to Susan from Florida for that tip.
(There
used to be info here about ordering the Studio C video from CN8,
but it turns out they do NOT sell it, so I removed it!)
Glenn
on CN8
March 23, 2002
A
prerecorded Glenn Tilbrook concert will air on the American cable
TV station CN8 this Tuesday, March 26th. It should be on at 8:30
PM wherever you live, but be sure to check your local TV listings
to make sure. The show is called "CN8 Presents: Studio C
- Glen Tilbrook", and it runs for 30 minutes.
For
those of us who don't get CN8, the station's web site streams
live video! I
was very surprised to find that it worked with my 28.8 modem connection,
so you might want to give this a try even if you don't have a
cable modem. The webcast will be at 8:30 PM Eastern, which is
5:30 Pacific and 1:30 AM in the U.K.
Glenn
finished up his U.K tour last night, and is off to Australia to
play at the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival before embarking
on a U.S. tour for most of April and May. For details, visit Quixotic's
tour dates page, or the Official
GT Site.
U.S.
Tour Dates!

Radio Scotland interview(s)
March 19, 2002
The
Quixotic
site just put up several weeks' worth of tour dates for the
U.S. in April and May. Find them by visiting the tour
dates section (scroll down past "Solo Acoustic Spring
dates"). Lots of gigs are listed in places Glenn hasn't played
before, such as the Pacific Northwest, as well as old favorites
like Philly, NY, and Chicago. More dates will be added, so keep
checking back!
Glenn
had a short interview and sang 'This Is Where You Ain't' on Radio
Scotland yesterday. Gill got the sound file to me in less than
an hour, beating her own personal best! If you missed it you can
download it directly (1 MB).
Glenn
will be doing a full 50 minutes of interview and song on Radio
Scotland on Friday, April 5th. He'll be on the Brian Morton Show
(as he was this time), which streams live from the Radio
Scotland site.
Junebug
sent in a link to a site with some really nice pics of Glenn
and The Party playing Leicester and London last year. The
site is well-organised, with the pics neatly thumbnailed for easy
viewing.
I'd
love to see your pictures from the current U.K. gig for possible
use on the site! Please email
me.
U.K.
Tour
-and-
New BBC Radio station!
March 14, 2002
Glenn's
current U.K. tour began on Tuesday the 12th in Portsmouth. After
two weeks of shows he's off to Australia for the East Coast Blues
and Roots Festival in Byron Bay on the 28th and 29th! For details,
check out Quixotic's
tour page or the Official
GT Site!
The
BBC has created a new radio station called 6
Music. You can't listen to it on your old fashioned radio;
you have to stream it from the net, listen with a digital radio
(DAB), or use your digital cable or satellite TV. Lots of people
have reported hearing Squeeze played already, so I figure it is
fertile ground for Glenn requests! After carefully perusing the
site, I think these would be the best presenters to contact (click
on their names to read more about their shows):
Phill
Jupitus - does the breakfast show and plays "great
new music" (that's Glenn!). Also said in a Radio 2 interview
that Glenn "blew the flaps off" the tent in which he
was playing at the Fleadh. Email 6musicbreakfast@bbc.co.uk
Gideon
Coe - "Great albums ignored by the top 40."
gideon.6music@bbc.co.uk
Tom
Robinson - Plays "the very best of contemporary music
by established and up and coming talent" (Glenn is both!) tomrob@bbc.co.uk
Bob
Harris - Invites us to "email him with the music
you'd like to hear." Say no more! bob.6music@bbc.co.uk
You
can also call the station and request a song from whoever is there:
08700 100 600. Or go to the 6 Radio site and pick your
own presenter from their
list. Let me know how you fare!
Glenn
has a small feature in the latest (April) issue of Guitar Player
Magazine.
U.S.
Radio Interviews
February 27, 2002
Helen
G. has sent in two radio interviews from Glenn's most recent U.S.
tour. The first is a WRNR interview
(direct download, 2 MB) with Jon Peterson, in which Glenn tells
a story about clubbing with Joey Ramone when he was 20 and sings
a few songs.
The
second is from WNST (2 MB direct
download), which is a sports radio station, so they mostly talk
about football/soccer. Both interviews took place on November
7th 2001 in Maryland.
Also,
Junebug writes in to let us know there is a streaming video of
Paul Carrack's 50th Birthday concert at Royal Albert Hall, which
includes Glenn and Chris as special guests (for part of the concert)
at the WembleyTV
site.
Things
have been very quiet here at the Unofficial Glenn Site, because
Glenn is currently writing songs for his next album. It remains
to be seen whether or not he will be testing them out on the audiences
during his upcoming tour!
U.K.
mini tour!
February 13, 2002
Glenn
will be touring in select parts of the U.K. this March. He'll
be playing in Portsmouth, Macclesfield, Wheyrigg, Glenfarg, Dundee,
Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Newcastle. Details can be found at the
new Tour
Dates page at the Quixotic site. (Better bookmark that!)
The
Glenn
List was recently polled on Glenn's various hairstyles throughout
his career. Participants rigorously scrutinised ten photos and
ranked them favorite to least favorite. You can view
the results whether you belong to the list or not.

Isle
of Man pics

Trevor
sent in some really
fantastic pics from the Isle of Man gig. They take a little
while to load cos they are big and I just didn't have the heart
to shrink them. Enjoy!
Manx
Radio interview
January 29, 2002
Glenn's
interview on Manx Radio turned out to be really interesting. If
you missed it, you can download it here
(3.5 MB). Glenn discusses early music influences in more detail
than usual, along with his relationship with Chris and lots of
other things. The sound quality is not as good as the Radio 2
interviews, but you can definitely hear what's said. Special thanks
to Patrick in Canada, who captured the show as it streamed off
the net.
The
Glenn
List has been a big success, and the members are very chatty.
We are discussing topics ranging from which TV shows would be
good for Glenn (and organising write-in campaigns) to his feet.
Sue sent in a great review of the Isle of Man show. If you aren't
getting enough of that sort of thing in your life, come
join us!
Isle
of Man radio interview & CD signing
-and-
Junebug's site
January 25, 2002
Glenn
will be playing on Sunday at The Venue on the Isle of Man. For
details, see the Quixotic
site or official
GT site. He's doing a CD signing at W. H. Smith's Strand Street
in Douglas at 4pm on SATURDAY, where he might also do a short
performance. That evening he will be interviewed on Manx
Radio at 6pm UK time.
Manx
Radio's site does netcast, but it is a little hard to connect.
If the link from the site doesn't work for you, Patrick suggests
you try opening Media Player, selecting "open URL" (or "open
location") from the File menu at the top of your screen.
Then paste in the following line of gobbledygook:
mms://217.23.171.68/Live_PublicStream
It
still doesn't work for me, so if anyone can tape the broadcast,
please email me!
Glenn is supposed to be on for about 25 mins.
Junebug
has created a very entertaining webpage
recapping Glenn's TV appearance on 'Politically Incorrect'. He
barely got two sentences in on the show, but Junebug's vivid imagination
and sly sense of humour combine to transform it into a much more
interesting story! It's liberally peppered with large vidcaps,
which perfectly illustrate the events as she interprets them.
It's a real work of art! Go
see.
Glenn
on 'Politically Incorrect'
January 18, 2002
Glenn
will be appearing on the US TV show 'Politically Incorrect' on
Tuesday, January 22nd. From the show's
site:
Politically
Incorrect With Bill Maher is one of television's most provocative
and funny shows, placing Maher at the center of a wildly diverse
panel of four from the worlds of politics, media, literature,
and entertainment. Through heated debate ingeniously instigated
by Maher, guests discuss various opinions about the hottest issues
of the day.
The
show is going to be taped in LA on the same day, and you can call
this number to get tickets: 323 575 4321. Sometimes there are
last-minute changes, so if you are planning to go you should reserve
tickets first, then call again the day of the show and ask if
Glenn is still going to be on. (You have to sit through two tapings
if you go.)
'Politically
Incorrect' is on ABC. Where I live it's on late at night (midnight),
which is still considered Tuesday. Check your local listings to
find out when it is on in your area.
Vintage
Squeeze vidcaps
January 14, 2002
Junebug
sent in some fun vidcaps from Squeeze's
Argybargy era (1981) show at The LA Country Club. Glenn is the
only band member shown because he was the only one with good enough
lighting!
I
updated the Audio & Video section
(finally), adding NINE Radio and TV appearances that were previously
only linked from this page. If you don't come here often, chances
are you missed something!

Accolades and reviews
January 7, 2002
There
are new pics up in the photo gallery
for Glenn's recent gig in Crewe,
and some more (a second page) from the Greenville,
South Carolina show. Also, Ocean County Library has made a photo
album of the show he did there. It was a fund-raiser, and
Glenn's concert contributed $1,500 to the library's renovation
project. There are also some great
pics on this site from the library show, which you may have
missed.
Nigel
wrote in to say he has some photos from various gigs at his personal
web site.
Glenn's
solo album continues to be a favorite among some music critics.
Billboard Magazine listed 'This Is Where You Ain't' as one of
the top ten album tracks of 2001. You can see the article for
yourself at Glenn's reviews
section at Quixotic Records (top left of page). His album
got honorable mention on the Best
of 2001 list at an interesting indie site called Satanosphere,
which reviews all sorts of things. Their articles are submitted
by the public, and visitors vote on them. The best ones make it
onto the site. Sounds hokey, but it's actually an excellent site,
so I'm also giving you a link to Satanosphere's
front page.
There
are new album reviews at Alibi.com
(scroll down to 'Glenn Tilbrook') and FM
Sound. The latter might have a lot of annoying numbers mixed
in with the text, depending on what web browser you use, but it's
still readable. Last but not least, there is a BBC Derby review
of the Dec. 12th Flowerpot
gig. (A venue that always puts me in mind of my beloved Squeeze
flowerpot
)
Glenn
has one tour date listed for January so far: the Isle of Man on
the 27th. Details about the location and how to get there are
at Quixotic.
Keep your eye on the Quixotic site for more dates, because I believe
he does have plans to tour this month.
Happy
New Year!
