U.K. Gigs

Christmas mp3

Fab new photos!

December 16, 2002

Glenn wrapped up his U.S. tour in San Francisco on Saturday, but he will be playing two special bonus gigs in the U.K. this week. He'll be at The Masque in Liverpool on Thursday (Dec 19) and Brighton Pavillion in Brighton on Saturday (Dec 21). As always, Quixotic has the details.

Glenn and Chris Difford did a great rendition of "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day" on the radio a few years back, and you can download it now in mp3 (1.6 MB). I had never heard the song before, but apparently it is a Christmas number one hit of yesteryear in England. You can find the full lyrics here, although Glenn and Chris do it from memory, so their lyrics are what you might call "modified".

Boy, do I have some pictures for you! First of all, Dominick sent in a nice batch from Orlando FL, which seem to be from Sacha's School of "Different". They're really clear and a lot of fun! Then Dave set a Babylonandon.com record by sending me OVER 30 excellent snaps from Nashville! Now, as much as I know y'all love Glenn, I thought very few of you would want to download 30+ pictures, so I somehow managed to pare them down to three pages (15 pics), They're all awesome, so please go take a look!

Have a wonderful Christmas or other wintery holiday!

More U.S. tour

More new pics!

December 2, 2002

Glenn's U.S. tour continues for two more weeks! He'll be hitting Santa Fe, Phoenix, San Juan Capistrano, San Diego, West Hollywood's infamous Viper Room, Sacramento, and San Francisco! The San Francisco venue has been changed, so see the Quixotic site for more info on that and all the other tour dates!

Sacha traveled all the way from France to see Glenn at Crewe during the recent U.K. tour. He sent me some pics and a note explaining that he tried to get ones that were "different". He did that! And his names for the photos so amused me that I included them as captions. See his crystal clear, Different pics here.

Michael sent me some just plain gorgeous shots from the Asbury Park gig in New Jersey, which also went up on my site today. Check 'em out!

Puremusic.com has done a really excellent cover feature on Glenn this month. The interview is thorough and engaging, and they did an extremely nice job making photo collages to illustrate it. Most of the pics came from here, so you may even see something you snapped!

Coming soon: more photos (Orlando and Nashville), and a RealMedia file of Glenn's surprise guest appearance on Nick DiBiasio's radio show during the Glenn List party!

PARRR-TAY on Glenn List

November 18, 2002

Glenn's U.S. tour continues this week, taking him through Florida's Orlando, Boynton Beach, and Tampa, then two dates in Tennessee. Next week it's New Orleans House of Blues, and then Texas, Texas, Texas! He'll play Houston, Austin, and Dallas. For all the info you need, see the Quixotic site.

Mary has sent me some really exceptionally beautiful pics from the Ocean Park County Library. They were taken during the U.S. tour in fall 2001, and come complete with New England autumnal foliage as backdrop.

Have you been wondering whether even a small donation for the in-progress Glenn documentary, 'One for the Road', would be helpful? I asked director Amy Pickard, and the answer was a resounding yes! She said,"Twenty dollars would pay for five hours of film stock, and forty dollars would pay for six months worth of flyers." Amy has now secured volunteers to help with some of the technical work for the movie, but other positions have yet to be filled. Please take a look at her wish list in the new Help Us! section of her site.

The Glenn List is having an online party to celebrate our membership reaching 150 and our one year anniversary. Nick DiBiasio of WICN 90.5 FM (Central New England) will be playing Glenn/Squeeze music during the party, which will stream over the net for partygoers and anyone else who would like to listen in. Come join us! The shindig starts at 6 pm Eastern this Saturday (Nov. 23), and Nick's show starts at 7:30 pm.

More pics coming soon, and I'd also love to see yours! Email me.

Field Staff handbills
-plus-
Glennmovie, Glennmovie!

November 10, 2002

Susan and Philippa have sent in some great new photos from the gigs in Crewe and Derby. They may take a little while to load, but they're worth the wait!

The Gigs section of this site (formerly known as Pub Tours) has been rewritten to more accurately reflect Glenn's current shows.

I decided to go the whole hog and provide handbills to download (1.3 MB) for field staff in addition to the tour posters (see last update). The ones provided at the Field Staff Download Center just aren't working for people. The handbills on my site are in JPG format. Right-click the above links to download and save for printing. (Mac users hold down the mouse/trackpad button.) Please let me know if you have any trouble with these.

Amy Pickard has updated her tour diary for the Glenn documentary at GlennMovie.com. Follow the link above to read all about her latest high jinks on the road with Glenn, not to mention the fuzzy zip-up jammies she brought over from the U.S.! For a visual on the "rompers", check out the web site by the people who make them. (The photos say it all, really!)

Holy smokes, she's updated again! So read the above link first, and then click here to read the very latest, which is about the status of the film and how you may be uniquely qualified to help make sure it gets finished.

Thanks to everyone who has sent in pics! Any Americans out there photographing Glenn?

Poster Update (Field Staff)
November 6, 2002

The new Field Staff Center has modified it's posters. The 11 x 17 poster (formerly 15 MB) has been slimmed down to about 800k. If you want large posters this is the file for you! If your printer will not take paper that size, you can print the poster on "legal size" (8.5 x 14) paper.

If you would prefer to print out the posters on regular (8.5 x 11) paper, I do not recommend using the one at the Field Staff Center. Instead, download this one (650k) - it fits the paper better and gives you room to write in the venue, date, and time. Save it by right-clicking and choosing "Save target as…" or similar. (Mac users hold down mouse button and choose "Save as…")

You will still need to visit the Field Staff Center for postering instructions and to sign up!

Thanks very much to everyone helping promote the shows this tour! Any postering and additional promotion you would like to do will be GREATLY appreciated, and as far as I know will still secure your name (plus one) on the guest list for the gigs you advertise. You must email the FS Headquarters, though, to let them know you are participating!

I have received some beautiful photos from the U.K. tour, which I hope to get up here soon!

U.S. Tour begins
-and-
Revamped Field Staff!

November 1, 2002

Glenn starts his U.S. tour on Monday! He'll be in the States for all of November and most of December. Following his trend of alternating coasts, this time the easterners will get to see him first. He'll play in Buffalo NY on Monday (Nov. 4th), then move on to Massachusetts, then Philly, back to NY state (Farmington), and down to Virginia.

He's covering a lot more of the South than he has during previous solo tours, and then he will be RVing across the country, playing a total of 29 dates, ending the tour in San Francisco. For all the dates and details, see the Quixotic Tour Page!

If you are in the Glenn Tilbrook Field Staff or would like to be, there are some changes afoot! During this tour Quixotic will be running the field staff instead of What Are Records. If you want to take part, you need to email the folks at Quixotic. There is a web site set up here where you can download posters to print out. They're still working the kinks out of this new system, but I think it will be great once its in full swing! For now, here are a few tips:

- Remember that your printer ink may be water soluble! Test it by putting a drop of the liquid of your choice on a printed page. If it runs, you can either poster exclusively indoors, or photocopy the posters so the ink is waterproof. (You might want to do this anyway to keep from using up all your printer ink!)

- The download page for the posters says that the page size is 11 x 17 inches. Don't worry if you can't print using paper that size; the poster will automatically get resized to fit whatever paper is in your printer when you print. As I type this, Quixotic is still working on getting a poster design that will download quickly and be useable for everyone.

- These posters are designed with a blank space so you can fill in the information for the gigs in your area. Don't forget to write in the date, time, and venue! You can do it on one copy and then make photocopies to avoid writer's cramp, carpal tunnel syndrome, or marking pen impotence.

You can find lots more info in my Field Staff section.

Good luck! Please let me know how it goes, or send your feedback to Quixotic's Field Staff Headquarters.

Radio show

October 15, 2002

Helen and Paula have sent in some fantastic new pictures from Glenn's gigs in Bury and Glasgow. His U.K. tour continues throughout October, this Wednesday hitting Manchester, and playing Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on Monday.

There have been concerts added to the U.S. tour in Chattanooga TN and Houston TX. You can find all the tour info at Quixotic Records' Tour Dates page.

He will also appear on the Dr. Rock show October 29, which can be heard on the northern BBC radio stations. You can read a little about Dr. Rock by following this link that I swiped from Quixotic!

Amy Pickard, who filmed a documentary about Glenn called 'One For The Road', has updated the diary on her site for the movie. Find out where things stand now with the film while enjoying her special way with words at GlennMovie.com!

More U.S. dates

Field Staff call to arms!

October 2, 2002

Glenn's U.K. Tour rages on, this week hitting Dundee, Peterlee, and Bury. Next week it's on to Glasgow, Aberdeen, Birkenhead, Northampton, Wrexham, and Crewe, with three more weeks of dates after that! You can find all the details you need at the Quixotic site.

The U.S. Tour has had two more batches of dates added since I last updated, so you should check them out. He has added dates for San Diego, Sacramento, Charleston SC, an extra date in Austin, and more!

If you'd like to help advertise the U.S. tour dates, you can! You will even get free tickets for your efforts. [Removed info about contacting What Are Records, since Quixotic will be handling field staff for this tour. (Nov. 1, 2002)]

Another great way to advertise is to call up local radio stations to request Glenn's music, especially the week before the gig. If you don't know which stations to call, check out the Radio Stations Request List! I am always looking for new stations to add, so please let me know if you have a good one that's not already there.

If your concert photos came out well, I would love to display them on my site! Drop me a line.

Glenn Movie trailer

September 23, 2002

Quixotic has announced Glenn's first batch of dates for the upcoming U.S. tour (November/December). There will be a few more to come, possibly including the ones listed at PollStar. Remember, though, that they are not definite until they appear on the Quix tour dates page.

The U.K. tour starts TOMORROW in Southampton! It will continue through the rest of September and all of October.

Glenn was featured in the Celebrity Fan section of Aston Villa's football programme last week (Aston Villa vs. Charlton Athletic - Glenn is a Charlton fan). Ali has sent in a scan of the article for all to see. I had to blow it up to make the print bigger, so it's a little distorted but hopefully readable.

Part of an old Squeeze concert circa 1982 can be heard at the BBC 6 Music Dream Ticket site. It appears to be available for a limited time only. The Squeeze part starts about 44 minutes into the show, and includes the following songs: 'Seperate Beds', 'Another Nail in My Heart', 'Out of Touch', and 'Points of View" (ooh! Corina favorite). Special thanks to Gill and Roy for this info.

There is a short clip up at GlennMovie.com for Amy Pickard's Glenn documentary, One For The Road. You can download it by going to the main page and selecting "trailers" from the side menu. Enjoy!

Glenn in Spain!
-and-
More new dates

September 13, 2002

Glenn will be playing two concerts in Spain coming up soon:

Arena - Madrid - 20/9/02
Sala B - Barcelona - 21/9/02

More dates have been announced at Quixotic for Glenn's massive upcoming U.K. tour. A tour of the U.S. will follow, so keep your eye on the the tour dates page. Lots of U.S. dates for November and early December are already leaking out through Ticketmaster and various venues that are advertising. It looks like it will be another large one, including a mixture of big cities and some smaller places. By late December he'll be back in the U.K. playing Liverpool (Dec 19th) and Brighton (Dec 21st).

In my last update I said you could get Aimee Mann's new album with a bonus EP (on which Glenn sings backups) at MusicToday, but I have since written to the store and found out that they are already out of those copies! If you are looking for the EP, it is probably best to either write to an online store and confirm that they have it before ordering, or find a way to get it in person. I bought a copy at my local Borders.

Glenn's Irish tour seems to have gone down well, and here's an article to prove it! I would absolutely love to hear from anyone who goes to one of the Spanish gigs. Please send me your reviews and photos for the site!

¿Vas a un concierto en España? ¡Mándame un mail en inglés, castellano, o catalán! :-)

IT'S GLENN'S BIRTHDAY!
-and-
Other news

August 31, 2002

Today Glenn is 45, and Babylonandon.com is two!

Glenn's upcoming U.K. tour now has dates confirmed for Birkenhead and Wrexham, in addition to the 22 dates previously announced. I suspect there will be more cities added, so keep checking back at Quixotic!

Aimee Mann's new album is out, entitled Lost In Space. SOME early copies contain a bonus EP called Humpty Dumpty, which features a song with prominent Glenny backups! The song is "Backfire". Canadians can probably find the album at Sam The Record Man.

Chris Difford has just released his first solo album, I Didn't Get Where I Am. It's not available in most stores, but Townsend Records will be happy to ship it to you anywhere in the world (from the U.K.)

Rock photographer Lawrence Impey has a website, which includes some VERY early shots of Squeeze. His portraits provide a fascinating 70s fashion retrospective from a time when the band members epitomised the term "starving artist."

Keep an eye out for an update at GlennMovie.com. Amy Pickard has finished the trailer for the movie, and will have it available for download soon!

Have a wonderful birthday Glenn! (You might wanna check out the guestbook.)

U.K. tour dates!
-and-
Toronto pics?

August 22, 2002

A big batch of tour dates for the September/October U.K. tour went up yesterday at the Quixotic Records site. Check 'em out! It looks like more may be added later.

Jim from Toronto took one look at my photo gallery and was appalled by the lack of pics depicting Glenn singing 'Pulling Mussels From A Shell' while lolling on the hood of a police car with lights flashing. Surely someone must have captured this moment on film? If so, please drop me a note. Until then, we will have to settle for Jim's fantastic review of the Toronto show, which can be found in his web log. (Look for the entry titled "Squeeze-ing The Most Out Of The Night".)

Hoboken interview
-and-
Articles and reviews

August 13, 2002

There is a fantastic hour-long Glenn interview at the website for Hoboken's public radio station, The Night. You can listen to it in streaming audio using Microsoft Media Player (which you can download free - just follow the link at the bottom of their page). He does a great live 'Vicky Verky', along with a few other songs, but it's mostly a lot of interesting chat.

NowToronto.com wrote an article in anticipation of the most recent Toronto gig, and KindaMuzik.net did a review of the Nashville one (the last stop on the U.S. tour). Also, DVDFever.co.uk reviewed Big Squeeze and discussed what was and should have been included in the two-CD set. Special thanks to Helen for all of the links above!

The Irish tour is wrapping up; Glenn's playing in Dublin tonight and Belfast on Wednesday. (See Quixotic's tour dates for details.) I would love to include pictures from the tour on my site! Please drop me a note if you have some.

Tees at Quixotic!
-and-
New pics

August 2, 2002

The Quixotic Records site has started selling the new tee shirt designs that were sold during the U.S. tour. They're really cool, fun styles! However, I must warn you these babies are SMALL. Order one or two sizes up. (I wear a small normally, and can just BARELY squeeze into the mediums if I religiously wash them in cold water and keep them out of the dryer.) The men's sizes are normal.

I have added a new batch of photos from the Southwark Park (London) gig, courtesy of Helen of Powys! The gig that drew an audience from England, Scotland, and Wales now has photos from residents of each country.

No one knows what Glenn is doing right now. Glenn is a Man Of Mystery. But a few unconfirmed tour dates are being advertised in the U.K. for this fall. I know I say this every tour, but until the dates show up on Quixotic's tour dates page they're not definite. However, he will be touring in the U.K. from late September to late October.

On a totally unrelated note, Neil Finn's new album, One All (which was called One Nil in U.K.) has finally been released stateside! It's been remastered, and features two new tracks not found on the U.K. release. Click on the title to learn more about it.
