Glenn on BBC Radio Scotland
with Brian Morton
April 5, 2002

Brian Morton obviously knows his subject, and Glenn seems very relaxed in this long interview. In part one (2.4 MB) Glenn starts off with "This Is Where You Ain't", then discusses musical happenings from his boyhood, including meeting young Jools Holland, who was "Not altogether familiar with bathing." The section finishes with "Take Me I'm Yours".

Part two (1.2 MB) discusses his sound and songwriting influences. (Always fascinating!) There is some discussion of the first Squeeze album and it's back cover. A lovely "Up the Junction" finishes the section.

Part three (2.1 MB) skips to the 90s and why Squeeze lost popularity. Glenn plays "The Truth" beautifully. They talk about the difference between Chris', Jools', and Glenn's musical taste and how they influenced each other in the band, and about people Glenn collaborated with on the solo album (Chris Braide). "Morning" is played from the CD.

In part four (1.4 MB) Randy Newman's name comes up, and Glenn plays the interview song. Glenn speaks candidly about what it's like to go solo on his own label. He closes with a breathtaking rendition of "Other World".

The interview is in RealAudio
