Comments: Hey Glenn! Happy to find your site -- Great to see you forging onward. You inspired me many years ago when we met briefly and talked guitars and such (I was a Summer intern at A&M way back; also bumped into you years later at a Les Paul show). We're doing our part out here in San Francisco (see URL above). Thanks for the inspiration and great music. Keep the pop fires burning bright!
:-)
Cheers,

Mark

Comments: Meeting Glenn Tilbrook
(to be sung to the tune of Interviewing Randy Newman)

It was August eleventh
year two-thousand and one
I was going to the Chance Theatre
to see a musician, my favorite one.

My spirits were on high
it had been a great day,
And to top it all off
I was going to hear Glenn Tilbrook play.

Well, I walked in the door
and he was just standing there
Well, look who it is...
Good luck must have been in the air.

I felt a little bit dizzy
But bravely I held out my hand
“Hi, I’m Em Holland” and he shook it
(He looked like my ex-husband)

I mentioned Mr. Difford
about an e-mail or two
Looking back on that
I don’t know if it was the right thing to do.

I told him I’ve travelled to see him
Five or six times before
I was surprised to find him
just hanging around by the door.

“Would you sign my cd,
Do you do that sort of thing?”
So he took it with my pen
and started to tease me before writing.

“How would you like me to sign it?”
“Oh, the British release” he said
He didn’t know I couldn’t speak
You see I was about to drop dead.

“You can sign it anywhere you like”
and he gave me a silly look
“Here... here... here... then again there’s over here...” he said
...and my legs felt weak as I was meeting Glenn Tilbrook.

I felt like a child,
nothing came out right
What I wanted to tell him was that
the sound of his voice brings joy to my life.

I enjoyed the small venue
I hope he comes back soon
I was like having Glenn Tilbrook
Singing for me in my living room.

Comments: I am happy to have found your site. I have been a huge Squeeze fan for 20 years and just saw Glenn's show at Iota in Arlington, VA 2 weeks ago. It was a pleasure to finally meet the man behind the wonderful music. I had read over the years how accomodating Glenn was and all the 'nice guy' entries, but was truly surprised. My little autograph signing stretched through a couple of cold ones.. either he's real nice or horribly tolerant..:) Look forward to seeing more from my new, bookmarked site.

Comments: What a great way to spend a Saturday evening - listening to the Squeeze Story on Radio 2 - excellent ! I had to rummage around and fish out "East Side Story" - it's always been my favourite Squeeze album - glad to hear that Chris thinks so too. How many of us were thinking "If only they'd get back together ....". . And it's nice to hear that Glenn hasn't shut the door on Squeeze. Having said that - I must have seen Glenn about 4 times in the last 6 months - so I can't complain !

Comments: Saw Glenn at the Park West in Chicago Saturday where he co-headlined with Marshal Crenshaw. It was an odd mix cause Crenshaw fans didn't really know much about Squeeze and vice versa.
A local Chicago band, Frisbie opened and they where beyond great. Then came Crenshaw who would have been a great show in itself. Next came the talented Mr. Tilbrook.
Glenn was amazing up there. Even though he said he was recovering from a cold, he sounded great. New stuff, old stuff it all was done in the great Tilbrook fashon. The audience loved him. After the encore and when we all thought the show was over because the lights went on, out pops Glenn and jumps down from stage, right where I was standing, and performed "Goodbye Girl" in the middle of the audience. If anyone has pics, please share them.
Thanks Glenn for another great performance.
And Thanks also for this great web site Corina

Comments: While in the UK earlier this year, my
wife and I just missed Glenn and "The Party" by
days as they traveled around the island.
Fortunately, after hearing him live from Studio C at
KBCO (Boulder, Colorado) at lunchtime last
Friday, we were lucky enough to get down to
Market street in Denver for his solo acoustic
set at the Soiled Dove (right next to Coors
Field where there was a baseball game).

The audience was small at first, but grew in numbers
as the show progressed (7:30 pm to a little after
9:00 pm). As with previous shows (for me, Squeeze
in the 80's and then again, w/o C.D. in '99), Glenn's
guitar work and voice were top notch. After the
show Glenn came up front to greet a few of us,
a very special treat indeed!

The new CD is quite good, and the songs came
across well in the intimate setting. If you
don't have one yet, try to get the UK version
with the bonus acoustic disk!

Glenn, here's wishing you a great visit to the
US...and not to worry. You sound as great
as ever and the lyrics will keep coming!

Cheers then...
Darin Toohey

Comments: Caught Glenn at the Parklife Festival, Gillingham on Saturday. He was not a happy bunny though - technical problems throughout - although the crowd didn't seem to mind (and probably wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't told them that he was extremely p***** off !!). However, on a personal note, it was great for me. I was right at the front and could actually appreciate him and the band this time. I last "saw" him at the Mean Fiddler and got caught up in a rather excitable crowd who were all about a foot taller than me ! So at least I went home happy, even if he didn't !

Comments: Was reacquainted with Glenn in Sept 99 w/ Squeeze in NYC at Irving Plaza. He and the band were brilliant. He played some of his solo material in the set and I've been anxiously waiting for the release of the new CD ever since. It was well worth the wait. Looking forward to seeing him in August. Thanks Corina so much for this wonderfully comprehensive site.

Comments: Stopped by while listening to 'The Incomplete' on my PC - good stuff - though I miss the deep Diffordness that complements Glenn's voice so well.

Lyrics good as ever and it's a tuneful collection too!

Realise that I first saw Squeeze at Uni in 1982 which is making me feel rather old....

Comments: I discovered Glenn through Paul Carrack and he is one talanted guy. His new solo album which I bought as soon as it came out is one of my favourites ever. I attended his 18th may show at Newcastle and it was my first ever live concert and it was truelly amazing and cant wait to see him again. I hope he is back in newcastle soon, I recently ordered 'parallel world' from HMV because it contains the song 'by the light of the cash machine' which Glenn performed live and I love it.

Comments: This is great site Corina! Thank you and everyone involved for the Audio and Video section in which I spend many a happy Saturday morning catching up with the latest interviews. "Incomplete" is a fantastic record, a real grower on me...like most of Glenn and Squeeze's music, it's rewarding listening. I last saw Glenn live in Matlock Bath in April and he was brilliant ...hope that I get chance to see G&TP somewhere in the Nottingham or Derby area sometime this year! Thanks again for everything folks!

Comments: I know its a bit late to mention, but I went to the Mean Fiddler gig 24th May. It was my 5th gig, that may not sound a lot, but I am only as old as Sweets from a stranger !. As usual it was a treat, the highlight for me being "Letting go". It has always been a firm favourite of mine but after the gig I have had the song on repeat !.
The new C.D is fab despite the re-vamped version of "Randy"...Favourite moment has to be "Up the creek".
See y'all

Comments: Corina, enjoyed both the "London Today" and "London Live" clips very much,( thanks to Gill & Sarah.)
Was the "London Live" bit done by a fountain or in the urinals?
When Glenn spoke about the intro of "TIWYA", I remembered it had reminded me & Alan of the Jacksons "Show Me The Way to go"(or a similar title)circa 1978 I think. :))x Maggie

Comments: Better late than never, I guess, but had to write and agree with all that the new album is fantastic. Saw Glenn at the Garage in Glasgow and it was amazing. Quite the best I've seen yet. Just keeps getting better and better. Love it when he plays accoustic sets too, but he was rocking!! All went home quite happy (me, I bagged his towel and now don't quite know what to do with it! Well, that's drink for you!). Hope all had as good a time as I did. See you at the next one!

Comments: My oh my.. I just had my first accoustic orgasm! I suppose I should explain.. it is that accoustic "bonus" cd (and you were wondering what Quixotic meant by "bonus" weren't you?!) it is, dare I say.. perfect? Yes, I will be so bold. Since our Corina hasn't received it yet, I won't get into details on tracks and whatnot, but damn this is good music! Now as for the "regular" CD, I am very impressed and proud to be the first on my block to own it. It has several very bright moments, lots of energy and a nifty booklet too!
